Need help importing vehicle!

Postby craig lee quay » March 19th, 2015, 9:17 pm

I am new to the whole importing cars.
I am looking to purchase a personal vehicle. I always hear people talking about how we are all permitted a certain number of vehicles over a few years (don't know how accurate this is) can someone who has experience in bringing in their personal vehicle give some tips. Or a suggested website. I always thought you needed an import license to do this. What about sbtjapan. Good place ? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really need step by step guides from you professionals. What year the car can be. How old ? Also how to calculate the local customs cost and so on. Thanks.

I personally prefer ICMjapan.net you get very good customer support.
a custom broker you will have to fill out the form he gives you and then get an "N" number
you'll have to get an import licence
the vehicle must not more than 6 yrs old

i really dont know how to calculate customs cost but to my knowledge a
1500cc engine will cost approx $20,000 - $30,000
2000cc engine will cost approx $50,000 - $60,000
that is including the price for your custom broker.

(keep in mind when filling out the forms please double check spelling eg names, address etc.)
(copy all documents you get)

the attached document might help
