you keep asking for specific dataPariaMan wrote:What data do you have that older hybrids are less efficient?\\
Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:because hybrids and electric cars advance so quickly and have been selling better than before (even more so over the past 3 years) is the reason I said 6 years old is too much. i.e. newer, more efficient technology and better availability of partsPariaMan wrote:That is 13 years ago.
Come nah man bring in 6 years and newer Prius and all will be well.
Lets be open to change!
pete wrote:PariaMan, 2008 is now too late to order for a 6 year old car. You need to look at prices on 2009 up.
On autoaccessjapan there's a 2010 with 92000km on it that sold for 720kyen (around 6200USD plus another 3k or so to ship to Trinidad) Duty would be 25% so that's 73k. MVT is 5625 and VAT is 11793. So a 6 year old one is only $90k. Why weren't people buying them at this price?

But imagine if the taxes were removed and taxis could get them for say 55 thousand
Just now we could do away with that fuel subsidy!
People need an incentive to bring them in!
Thats all!

Man I will pick every one of your arguments apart.
1. newer efficient technology
If the 6 year technology is acceptable and gives us the milage what we want then it is not a problem
Do we stop buying basic cars like say a yaris because there are new cars that practically park and drive themselves?
Prius is one model; the used car dealers are not limited to Prius. There are many models they can sell here.PariaMan wrote:2. Availability of parts for six year Prius.
Have you done research and your research shows that there are no parts for six year old Prius in Japan.
Print the site with that data.
Come nah man, man up and admit you wrong!
yes I realise that, and comprehension was clearly secondary.PariaMan wrote:Pallos the main purpose of this post was to show that Duane was wrong.
I am not talking about the Prius alone.PariaMan wrote:Duane
Did you see that the Prius has not changed much since 2009 . Why do yu persist with this old Tech talk?
Come nah man!
PariaMan wrote:Firstly you can get a used battery on ebay for 500 US.
(I have checked)
Secondly if you buy a say 60000km Prius you can expect 200000 + kms of life in the battery.
Actually it has been difficult to put a life span on the Prius battery because after ten years they are still going strong
( again I have researched this over and over)
There is no need to go Toyota.
