disassemble the phone using a guide and look for residual water marks or stains on the metal and circuitry inside.

carefully clean with a dry q-tip.

i recovered my old motorola droid that way.

Is anyone noticed a considerable battery drain on their android device? I think there is either a third party app that is draining my battery when it is idle or I have a defective battery. Have a 4month Samsung S4 and I've noticed that during the night I lose almost 20-30% battery life even though I have no apps/data/GPS or wifi on. I did an update on the phone on Friday and noticed it since then.

check the battery stats... I bet is google play services, reboot your device, turn off location services, see if that helps

Seems the Issue with Nexus 7 2013 users updating to lollipop having video playback is true, hopefully they will release a fix for this shorty.

Also some friends of mine received OTA for lollipop on their Nexus 5 today.

Despite my concerns of a battery on the way out, I installed this rom earlier.

Came from Ozcan rom. Can't comment on battery stats on this just yet.

i noticed something very strange yesterday.....i installed a factory rom on my phone and all my apps got installed from my google account.

I didnt bother to open / sign in all of them just yet.....the ones that were just installed (not opened) were all using 1 process and 1 service in my app manager.

they disappeared from the 'running apps' once i opened them and agreed to the terms and conditions / sign in.

some were:

facebook
facebook messenger
google sheets, slides, docs
waze
dropox
one drive
soundhound

all of them were consuming a tiny bit of the phone's resources until i initialized them.

So, the phone s working in and out.sometimes it sticks. I opened it completely and found water droplets , cleaned it but still the same. So what can I try?

Had location services on, will take it off now. Does location services need to be on for using GPS and waze? or that location services is for people who 'check in' at places?
Always assumed I needed to leave location on for using waze.

Oh, I should have asked if you're on kitkat or JB. on JB you can turn off google's network-based location, that is used for things like weather widgets etc (stuff that doesn't need a precise location). When you need to use Waze and that stuff the phone will use GPS if i recall correctly. Kitkat handles the location services a lot better so you can leave it on with no worries

I had battery drain on my nexus 4 (kit katt). Ended up restarting the phone and it solved it. Google Play services was running in the backgrud.

Another time waze kept running in the background eating battery.

My gf Samsung s4 recently experienced serious battery drain over the past few days.....the culprit was gpsd services. Did some research and setting the network to CDMA alone instead of cdma\gsm (automatic) solved the problem.
