Eid Mubarak to everyone!!! This year we saw that coming to end of fasting that there was some issues with the moon sighting before commenting on this i would first like to say although the Ramadan is over whatever good we have done ( Praying they daily prayers, giving up on smoking or drinking, showing kindness and generosity to others, giving in charity , visiting the sick and family members, controlling our anger, making dua.... and the list can go on. Lets try our best and i speak for myself first to carry forward these things throughout the rest of the year till the next Ramadan reaches us.

Yes it is possible for different Jamaats to celebrate Eid on different days. This is due to sighting of the moon. There are three views of moon sighting
1- Local (Looking for the moon only in Trinidad eg Asja )
2 - Regional Local (Looking for the moon in Trinidad and also in the surrounding regions eg. Guyana and some parts of North and South America where basically there time zone is almost if not the same as ours here in Trinidad.) Darul Uloom usually goes with this view.
3- International (The sighting of the moon is only taken in Saudi Arabia) not certain which mosque goes with this one.

It should be noted that the scholars of Islam have stated that all three views are correct based on the information presented in both (Hadith and Quran). So it is up to an individual to do some research on his own or with his mosque to decide which is best for him. The members of my mosque including myself goes with the regional local moon sighting and we did celebrate Eid on Monday.

Did you all fast in accordance to what times saudi ppl was fasting?

I think they 7 hours ahead of us...so it means you all shoulda start fasting around 10pm?

From what i mention before this was one of my concern in going with an international moon sighing.

pioneer wrote:So de muslims who celebrate eid on monday, there shouldn't be any reason at all for them to celebrate today, right?

That is correct because there are only one day for this eid, but if you get invited at someone house who is celebrating eid the next day does not mean that you don't go.

ok dais Feroze mosque then...who leading the tarawih there? Qayyim / Fawaaz?

Sorry for the late reply Qayyim lead the tarawee once's he's there if not then the Imam.

If I had made any errors in what i have said feel free to correct me.

Lastly I hope Allah accepts whatever good we have done in this month and carry that forward in seeing another Ramadan 2015. In Sha Allah (God willing).

I normally don't bother or care to post on these matters but international sighting is so much easier especially where we are situated. It's one moon. One community. If its unity they preaching and one moon, why doesn't one sighting count?

And I eh going to bother to answer any other question on it.

There is this long article below which would answer most of the qualms.

For instance the generalisation of sighting. The confusion of regional vs local vs international. Whether calculation should be used or not.
