Truck driver under police escort gets a ticket

Although he was being escorted by officials from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, the driver of a trailer truck was stopped and issued a fixed penalty ticket on Monday morning in Aranjuez
Sources told Express that the incident took place at about 10.30 a.m. along Aranjuez Main Road.
The Express was told that Corporal Ramphal, attached to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Traffic Branch, observed that the cargo which the trailer truck was carrying was “dangerously protruding” from the truck and he ordered the vehicle to a stop, despite the presence of the police escort.
Despite reported protests from the officers escorting the vehicle, the corporal stood his ground and issued the driver a ticket for driving with a protrusion, as well as for having a defective licence plate.
The officers who were in the escort reported the incident to their seniors, who in turn contacted officials at Traffic Branch.
The driver was said to be a resident of Sangre Grande.
