Would TTUNDRA Mgt & NARA Mgt unite now..?

Postby Alain_2NR » June 30th, 2014, 7:27 am

So the daunting question to be asked now is, would Ttundra Drags and Nara Drags finally unite with each other in the spirit of Motorsport..? Not bickering with one another and being pointless. Given the unfortunate accident that happened this weekend. Much more stringent procedures in HSE are to be implemented. In my opinion let all the NGO's affiliated with Motosport FINALLY unite and have proactive measures.

N.B. My post isn't a call to bash anyone. Please fellow Enthusiasts I'm asking for a civillized discussion. If there are those who are going to contribute mindlessly to cause confusion, then please don't.
We are all adults (Assuming) so ladies and gentlemen please show some sort of decorum.

Even if they were unified I think the accident may still have happened with the same consequences.

Going forward things can be put in place to make racers safer and hopefully this would not happen again.

I posted on Facebook via Trinidad and Tobago Motorsport News as well. Would like to know each individual opinions.

In my opinion from an HSE perspective. Any night event held must have proper lighting equipment not only on the track but through out. While I was on the grid I noticed the inadequacy of proper light for the Marshalls and Officials to view racers. The immense flow of people gathering in the pit area as well as on the grid was a keen observation. Now it had several Marshalls on the grid. However, not one of them walked to any racer to check on their safety apparel. Apart from the pit crew I don't think they are the relevant individuals to ensure that a racer is safely equipped. So what I'm emphasizing is ensure proper viewing and checks are made before any race.

Not sure if it got better but the last two night drag events I went to I found the top of the track very very dark. Actually backed off on one run coming up to the end because I wasn't sure where the actual end was. I did voice my opinion on the way back and a extra lighting tower was placed up top.
On the helmet issue, both event organizers had people visually checking (at least on the few occasions I went). Pulled up to the staging area without my helmet on, because there were two runs to take place before me and I had at least a two min wait.
An official came up to the car and told me put my helmet on as I was now in the staging area.

Safety is not just for the Organisers to pay heed to but this should be a mindset to everyone involved especially the Racers. "You" are risking your life when racing and therefore, the "first" onus should be oneself to ensure that you have on a full safety race gear securely when racing

1) Race Helmets should be strapped on tightly and not just resting on your head
2) Invest in proper Race Suits
3) All cars are pretty much running very fast now and therefore you should install proper roll cages

Dont wait for the Organisers Officials to tell you to protect yourself, you should know whats right and do it yourself .. They are there to guide and remind the racers but "safety" should be utmost priority !!!!

Why should the two entities unite?

I had asked a question long time ago, let NARA publish the names of their management, election results, financial results and membership...if they can do that then it would make them much more transparent. Nothing done yet. they seem to be a promotions company, but no one knows.

If the two bodies unite, then Drag Racers will have no options about who to race with, there will be a monopoly by just one body, right now drag racers have a choice about who they can race with, it is up to them to decide and for the body holding the event to offer Drag Racers and spectators the most affordable, safest and organised events.

Let the Drag Racers decide who they want to race with...just one more point.. has NARA released a statement about the incident? A full 24 hrs has passed and not a note, and you say pointless bickering?

no doubt NARA is conducting an investigation & will issue a statement in due course...........it's the only sensible approach to incidents like this & hasty, uninformed comments which usually begin with : 'in my opinion...'), serve only to confuse matters.
.
Why should the two entities unite?

why should they ????
simple affiliation to the governing body assures any motor sport organisation of access to, & authorisation for, proper procedures, expertise, personnel (aka safety stewards), etc for competitions.
