I don't like to see pipe and conduit showing. I'd only run something surface if it's part of the style e.g. industrial design.
I ran 1" PVC to each zone and then reduced to 3/4" and used Rainbird elbows and connected the 2" popup heads with the black tubing
once the grass grows up, the sprinkler heads are nearly invisible when they are off.

Like round up or sumin
To kill the Weeds in the lawn
Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:^ most plant shops here will sell weed killers
the problem is that our local common lawn grass, aka savannah grass, wil also be killed by weed killers
they only work with turf grass like Bermuda and Zoysa etc

Tall grassy weeds will be choked out if turf is cut regularly and a seed killer works best against them
They are easy to pull out anyway. Nut grass is the real problem though and sometimes it is better to dig out the nuts by hand.

Luckily I found this thread because I was going to make one.
So after some research on Tuner and the Net I learnt that most of hte turf grass here is Zoysia
Anyone know what type this is?
We had these home a while now...was growing good for a bit but then started to die out.
We got these from seeds but like everyone mentioned it was a painful and long process.
Right now I want to get back out lawn with turf but I don't know what type this is.
Questions are where do I get Zoysia to buy seeds or plants, what is the most I should pay for them and any more advice would we welcomed.
thanks.

That what you have there is Zoysia grass. I started my lawn with similar clumps as you have there.
Bought UREA and apply every week for 5 mths. I am getting good growth. To purchase the grass is a bit expensive but its a quick fix. Either you have the money to spend or you wait it out. May take on average a year or so to complete a 5000sq ft piece of land.
From my experience the grass is slow growth by its nature. Requires alot of wetting. This is an advantage when it populates your entire yard as you wont have to be cutting as often. This is also a disadvantage because it takes long to grown in your yard.
I am waiting it out and letting it grow on its own. I continue to collect pcs from friends and family and plant them in different spots in my yard and use urea once weekly and water. With the rainy season currently taking over now is the best time to start the lawn. Just keep weeding and allowing the grass to grow..
boods1234 wrote:Urea will work but you run the risk of burning the grass due to it being in granular form. The better thing to use is a simple balanced soluble fertilizer such as 20-20-20. Use it weekly and make sure to maintain the moisture. If you want it to spread faster you only trim the tops of the grass clumps and it will grow outward. (I run and own an Agricentre and landscaping company) any additional advice needed you can call 652-1864
