Snake in ceiling at popular City Gate coffee house

http://www.trinidadexpress.com/news/Sna ... 58501.html

Snake handlers from the Emperor Valley Zoo were called in to the Rituals City Gate branch on Wednesday after a snake, with the description of an Epicrates cenchria or Rainbow Boa, was spotted in the ceiling of the popular coffee house.

The presence of the snake handlers, dressed in dark brown pants, tall boots, cream shirt and armed with hooks, first alerted curious passersby during the transport hub’s early morning rush hour.

Carl Ramdeo, deputy general manger, Marketing and Communications of the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), confirmed the presence of the snake and said it was first spotted by a Rituals employee last Sunday when part of the ceiling collapsed.

“One employee said she saw the head of the snake; so we called in the zoo and pest control to make sure that everything was checked out as well as the health and safety department.”

Ramdeo added that the pest control company hired was also asked to make a “complete check” of other sections at the Railway Buildings, South Quay, PTSC location.

Gupte Lutchmedial, president of the Zoological Society, confirmed that the zoo’s handlers were sent out but said he is doubtful that it was the Rainbow Boa employees saw since it is unnatural for the slender boa to live in ceilings.

“If it was that kind of snake it would have been seen on the floor, Lutchmedial said.

Ramdeo said the Corporation will continue to monitor the situation in the interest of its tenants Rituals, staff and commuters.

You have to peel off that skin first or it will be like leather. In fact it is leather. Nothing wrong with a good BBQ snake steak eh. Or you can fillet it across and roast it on skewers after some marinating.

cookin like dis is preshaaaaa to eat after. too many ribs, to much wuk to pick out all dem ting while yuh eatin

maj. tom wrote:Nothing wrong with a good BBQ snake steak eh.

& where you hear dat? snake meat ain't soft eh, so if yuh bbq snake, d meat gets real tough, unless yuh leave it on d heat long, but then it will get dry & yuh hadda find some way to fix dat, otherwise yuh go feel yuh eatin a very tasty dry branch.

Just like iguana, most of the nice flavor is in d lil fat under d skin. yuh could skin it, or just roast & scrape before yuh cook

after a certain size snakes do pose a hazard to humans & pets/livestock, so some ppl would leave a smaller one & blade up a bigger one. bigger ones easier to catch too, they don't move as fast as the smaller ones, especially if they now done eat

soooo since they caught the female

this is the male they caught yesterday, measured 13ft......a guy took this one though but the fate of the snake is questionable since he said they eat those. :| :| :? :?
