I personally use G-Shocks for the harsh work environment. I also end up using them for formal and every other type occasion. I don't subscribe to the different watch for different occasions nah!

If you travel overseas with an atomic watch, it will continue to function as a quartz watch but will not receive radio controlled updates. Although Europe has its own atomic clocks, the transmitter frequency used in Europe differs from the one used in the United States.

Actually I receive atomic time calibration on my protrek prw2500-1 . I live at carapichaima area and i usually face my watch to the east and out the window for manual calibration... however it receives automatic calibration while lying on my desk indoors. I also manually calibrated the pressure and temperature

Yes these watches do receive updates in Trinidad even though it is outside the range. Don't ask me how but maybe it is now uploaded via satellite somehow. I checked mine against the standard time in Bureau of Standards in Macoya and boy it is really accurate.

gathered signal updates via fort collins in the US with a 2000 mile radius which excludes trin.

As for the GPS watches - emphasis is on tracking rather than time keeping and battery life is poor.

still looking into it...

Question:
Why would someone need to be accurate down to the second?

1. a power engineer at a large (for example methanol) plant would want to know within seconds how long it takes the plant's standby generators to come on

2. engineers maintaining a large scale network (ngc, ttec, flow) would want to know how quickly changes propagate throughout their system

3. invigilators for any large exam (sea, cxc) would want to track the accuracy of start/stop times

4. rory needs to maintain his health (see below)

JJY time signal emulators can be used to sync casio atomic watches

http://jjy.831337.xyz/

or search for Fukushima: online JJY time signal emulator

This may not work for some Citizen atomic watches that use DCF77 or WWVB signals
