it means as much as we may like multi million dollar vehicles we discuss those a little more affordable as well...so my query still pertains any info on pricing?

I see nothing wrong with talking about multi million dollar vehicles even if one can't afford them. Most of this thread is on entry level vehicles which have been discussed over and over, case in point kia coup with a 2.0 litre engine since January and is priced already in this thread at $240K on the very first page.

Kia made it clear that it's only the 2.0 na available for our market. Sucks that we live in the 3rd world.

No cerato koup turbo
No veloster turbo
No mazda 3 2.0
No vw golf (not the gti)
Probably no new Octavia
No ford fiesta st

you can special order the 2.0 Mazda 3...SS has no problem bringing it as a special order, they already stock parts for the engine anyway

Is this confirmed from a sales agent? My cousin asked and they said they have no plans to bring it in unless its special order and they need at least 10 people to special order to make it worth it, so he ended up getting the 1.6L

Good day everyone.
I am interested in getting a 2014 Toyota Yaris or Corolla (thinking of resale value :D )

My question is this: What is the usual drop off in price for a new Corolla after usage for about 1 year

Not a good idea to sell a new car after a year because cars tend to lose 10% to 15% of their value per year. Thing is the price tends to be so close to a new car that people would rather buy new cause they don't know how much abuse you put that car through.

You would have to sell lower than it would be worth. Even if is a OMFG ITS A TOYOTA

This.
Also, even if a buyer is seriously in love with your 1 year old car and wants to buy it they may have to go through a bank for financing. A bank is going to convince this buyer that buying your 1 year old car doesn't make sense when they'd need to put a 30%-40% down payment toward it (depending on the bank), whereas they just need 10% down for a brand new car. Not just that but the bank rep is going to show them that their installment on a new car is going to be significantly lower because they'll have 5-6 years to pay it off, as opposed to the 2-3 years they'll give them for a used car.

thanks guys.
you have been really helpful. @metalgear i do plan to buy, its just that a career opportunity MIGHT open up outside the country sometime within the next year.
If it does not i would like to have a brand new car to use comfortably for years.....if it does open up i want to assess how easy it would be to offload the car at an ok price

Tough call. Better you buy a used cheap something until you know for sure. Most will prefer to spend a little extra and get the same car brand new. Also if you're leaving you may need to sell in a hurry which means lower price.

Buy a lightly used local car... its the best of both worlds...you will pay less up front and get the depreciated price and if you sell you'll be losing less. If you keep it it it's still a pretty new car that can pump for years

Great advice on this thread, thanks again.
I think i will do just that i.e a lightly used car and if i have to sell after a year the loss wouldn't be so much

This is confirmed by someone more senior than a sales agent. But the relationship with SS may allow different things to happen. Sales agent can only sell what's on the floor/batch. It's in their best interest to get you to buy from available stock.

That special order 2.0 Mazda 3 is the old model you're referring to?

Because the latest model 2.0L is the new SkyActiv engine, and is totally different to the older model's MZR 2.0L which SS bought in previously.

I too was also told by a sales rep that they have no intention of bringing the 2.0L SkyActiv at the moment, and I doubt SS will be stocking parts for an engine which none of their cars have yet.

Heck they don't even stock some parts for engines in the cars they sell currently

The local CX-5 and Mazda 6 carry the 2.0(standard)skyactiv and 2.5(optional) skyactiv engine....I'm tired of repeating myself.
I already explained why a sales rep will not even venture down the path of a special order

Point taken - I forgot those vehicles already carry the 2.0 skyactiv.
Concerning what the different sales reps said, I wasn't disputing they told you they will bring it by SO. Its just that most times reps don't seem to know what they're talking about.

skyactiv 2.0 mazda3 is not available via special order at this time. Stop spreading false info.

Meanwhile, we got unconfirmed pricing from a rep at NM Auto on the just arrived 2014 Altima:

2.0 - $310k (mr20de)
2.5 - $389k (qr25de)
3.5 - $610k (vq35de)
