Indian Expo Burns Down in Chaguanas

Arson suspected in $25 million Indian Expo fire

MORE than $25 million worth of clothing, jewellery, household items and equipment went up in flames as fire destroyed dozens of businesses at the Indian Expo, located at theDivali Nagar, Chaguanas, early this morning.

Police said that fire at around 2 a.m. fire broke out on the compound at Narsaloo Ramaya Marg Road.

Some 25 merchants, some who own one or two stalls, went to the compound and watched as fire officers of the Chaguanas Fire Station battled the blaze. Arson is suspected, investigators said.

Approximately 150 workers were left without jobs, the Express was told.
Police officers of the Chaguanas CID are continuing investigations.

They just brought new stock of furniture, clothing etc. One of the food stalls alone lost 500k including equipment stock etc.

The reason for being "temporary" was to evade paying taxes altogether. Media said they've been here for 8 years.

The fire services (tax money) shouldn't have bothered to expend energy past letting it burn down on its own.
