Cover Note

Postby TrinbagoMan » March 28th, 2014, 9:50 am

Does a cover note allow you to drive the vehicle for that one day, or is it just for transfer purposes?

The time of expiry will be stipulated on the note, you can pay for additional time.

The issuing company will usually ask the purpose: if for transfer or registration. When either is done the validity of the cover note ceases and proper insurance should be put into effect.

Fact is, most companies have stopped issuing cover notes because alot of persons use them as per regular insurance for a day when finished their registration or transfer. The issuing company is then placed in a bigger risk for the cost involved, should an incident occur requiring coverage.

In short, it's not regular insurance.. even for a day.

recently skidz? Did you have prior business with the company? I know of a couple compaies that do that, but not with a cover note though, but with the actual insurance. You just don't get the actual policy till the full premium is paid.

ok well understood how they managed to do that for you. These days alot of companies either stop doing cover note or just doing it for who they have been having regular business with.
