They sell for around £50-80 if in really good condition here, I just keep mine in case I want to sell my camera later on as I figure it may add value.

BTY what L did you get? I'm thinking about the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM but not sure yet as I may buy another/different camera and can tdo both :(

24-105 is an excellent lens, little tight on a crop body, but the IQ is top notch!

Thanks for that. As much as I want a new camera body as I am still using the T2/3? not even sure, and I do struggle on the tight shots with the crop body, but the weight of the the camera is also important as I can quite easily spend 6 hours with it hanging over my shoulder.

I use a combination of the 18-55 kit lense, a 50mm 1.4, and my telephoto and when out and about is a bit too much sometimes. I want to cover with those as I so I figure the 24-105 covers the first part of the range and the 100-400 covers the second with the least amount of kit...so thats my situation at the moment. That though does leave my 70-300 Tamron doing nothing.

I do feel limited byt the camera body I have, but I rather get some good/decent lenses now..get decent results and move to a better camera body later on

Better glass before body upgrade is correct .

The 24-105 is F4 , though its great glass its still a medium to bright light needing F4 . This will definitely not replace the 50 1.4 and the 24-105 is no paper weight lens . Neither is the 100-400 . All great lenses but you need to decide what you want to do before you purchase and also decide on you needs when going to shoot . Many photographers have multiple lenses for their genre of photography .

The 100-400 is not light but its among the most popular L glass for canon tele users .The results are great , getting used to push pull zoom is a bit challenging. At night the 50 1.4 shines as it can deliver great to crisp shots in any to very low light.
