Oil from breather hose intothe intake

Postby roti102 » February 11th, 2014, 1:50 pm

Anyone having problems with oil coming from the breather hose back into the intake in a turbo diesel? Ive been losing oil and I see it in my intake coming from the breather hose. Ive seen many people talk about this on other online forums and they install an oil catch system.

This seems to have got messed up there. I was asking if anyone heard of oil coning from the breather back into the intake? It seems to be common and people have been installing catch cans and other options.

hard to say but I took down my intercooler hoses and there was oil in there. Have to take the whole thing off and clean it. Ive been loosing oil for a little while and trying to find out where its going and refilling about 1/3 of a quart a month.

1/3 (one third) of a quart a month. That's not really that much but it is concerning. Did some research on the catch can thing and it seems that you have to be careful there, and not install one that is restrictive. then again, there are some folks who just recommend installing a in-line strainer. It works basically the same and you can get that in the same hose size as the breather hose. What do ya think?

I use this http://www.ecstuning.com/ES2612320 on my L200 and seem to work fine. No more oil in intake. Modified an empty mini fire extinguisher to collect the oil run off. the extinguisher has a breather filter and a drain plug
