Been done in trinidad before on aquaphiliac (inboard engine), first they put in a diesel, then a rb20det and lastly a rb25dett. They kept running into issues with the foot and gearing. The owner is now putting in a volvo engine (ment to be in there in the first place.) Cooling was an issue even with direct salt water running thru the system, they had the block coated to take the salt but alas they finally just decided to go with the original stock power plant.
