Sailun Tires

Postby joe_d_boss » June 29th, 2013, 4:25 am

There's been some recent talk about a fairly new brand of tire on the market called Sailun. Anyone here tried them or has any experience with these? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have used the at sailun on my hilux, it suprised me for the price grip comparable to the highend tires. Smooth ride slight road noise i put them in a little mud did ok. Ill rate it 9/10 based on the price and hw well it works

OK thanks for the feedback. With some further research and looking at some vids on Youtube, I am realizing that these are very good tires for the price as well. I think I am willing to try a set of these on my 2009 Corolla.

3/10 Score. Made in China ... no real standard like USA DOT approved.
Considered a cheap tire by quality and price.

RedTiger, Sailun Tires are US DOT approved by the way plus more:

"Sailun has ISO9001 Quality Management System Certification, ISO14001 Certificate of Environmental Management System, ISO/TS16949 Certificate, Certificate for China Compulsory Product Certification, EU ECE certificate, US DOT certificate, INMETRO certificate of Brazil, SIRIM certificate of Malaysia and SOCAP certificate of Nigeria."

Not a fan of sailun tyres but these are now stock tyres on the 2014 kia cerato. Seems like Kia has confidence in sailun.

I am still puzzled as to why Southern Sales cars always seem to come with cheap crappy tyres vs every other brand/dealership which tends to come with more legitimate brands..
I have a feeling that SS specifies these or worse yet may even change the tyres here in Trinidad.

A few years ago a friend bought a new Mazda6 and it came with Nexen... A company I have worked for however bought the same vehicle from the same dealership (southern sales) and it came with Bridgestone Potenza RE050

different batches of cars come with different brands of tires... manufacturers use what's available to them. local dealerships don't change anything.

I ended up purchasing Bridgestone Potenza G III's instead of the Sailun Tires. They were $600 each, but I beat down the guy to $575, which is an excellent price. Race Trac wheels had the Sailun tires for $525. Figured I would put out the extra and by the Potenzas at D. Ramdath in Tacarigua.

Potenza G III you say... Did you check the manufacturing date stamp on the tyres? To the best of my knowledge, Bridgestone hasn't made a G III in about 5 years.....................

These are 2012 manufactured tires. Not the newest thing out there, but two years is my acceptable range. These are about 16 months old. I think you are right though - they stopped making GIII's which are now replaced by the Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001.

I wakin' up this post because I need to buy tyres for my AE110 Corolla and based on the prices and brands available in Trinidad, i am considering slappin' on some Sailuns.

Has anyone had any real world experience with these tyres locally that can attest to whether they are a good buy or a waste of time in the dry and wet?

Keep in mind that my driving style ranges from cruisin' to aggressive, sun or rain..........

Your feedback is appreciated...........

I bought a set for my car a few months ago

Its working good so far

No complaints really

Good for the price.

The ride is better than the dunlop dz101 i had before
A million times quieter.
No comment on performance though
Never really pushed them to see how they will react in dry or wet.

Currently using some Sailun Attrezo SH402 195/60/14 tyres
They are the worst tyres i have ever used. any aggression with the accelerator results in tyre squeal. cornering results in squeal. if i shift into second with any aggression results in chirping tyres. I thought the dunlop sp sport 702 was the worst tyre i ever used until i used these tyres. Straight line and Lateral traction are non existent. I have been afraid to test their braking ability so i have been driving around at about 70-80 kmph everywhere

recap
avoid these tyres like the plague
no traction and noisy

I have a set off 17's Sailun Attrezo on my ZVS the worst tyre ever, road noise not to mention handling like crap. The corners i usually went around with my Dunlop Dz101, the back now swings with the Sailun!

NEXEN tyres are now used by Hyundai,KIA, Mitsubishi, Chrysler, and VW(#2 car manufacturer in world by volume) as original equipment on some of their respective models.

Yes they are, however, keep in mind we do not get these specific model tyres here. Not all Nexens are created equal.

There is little to no chance that we will ever see a Nexen OE grade tyre on sale here.
