Need Advice On Purchase Legacy turbo vs non-turbo

Postby Joey.B » November 16th, 2013, 10:43 pm

Hey ppl I'm selling my car and in the process of getting myself a Subaru Legacy SpecB but I'm not sure if to go turbo or non turbo. My main concern is fuel though, I know its like premium vs super but I can't get passed the look of a turbo over the non-turbo.
Any suggestions?

how fast does the premium burn or rather on average how often would i have to full gas?

The performance between the Turbo and Non-Turbo is like Chalk and Cheese..........undoubtedly

The cost in gasoline undoubtedly................also, is like Chalk and Cheese.

The cost of maintenance/replacement parts is another issue

Peace.

Hmm "how fast does the premium burn or rather on average how often would i have to full gas?"

Well that question is interesting lol neways it depends on how aggressive you are on the throttle and..given the higher cost of premium fuel than super, expect to spend alot at the pump

these cars aren't exactly fuel efficient..especially in high traffic scenarios

For about a $300 fill up expect around 400Km (moderate boost)

Maintenance and parts is not an issue..parts are inexpensive and easy to acquire

The fact that you are concerned about fuel indicates that the turbo model may not be the car for you

Looks wise the turbo model has a hood scoop and twin exhaust, your "looks" point is moot.

Get the non turbo so you wouldn't have to worry about fuel costs

There IS a Spec B Non-Turbo.
It is known as the Spec B 2.0R
The Turbo is the Spec B 2.0GT

^^ You are partially correct..it's not a Spec B non turbo..but a non turbo with Spec B trim

the 2.0R has abit more hp than the 2.0 i and it comes as the B-sport (GT trim) or the 2.0R Spec B (Spec B trim), as i mentioned above already

Thanks for the advice! Really much appreciated.. I will stick with the non-turbo as fuel efficiency is or was my main concern and $300 at avg 400km won't work at all for me as I'm from central and work in south.

Either the 2008 or 2009 model of the 2.0R Spec B has a push button start which do you all think is the better from your experience? Or does it even matter really....?

There's also a liberty model. That comes with the 2.2 na I think.

Personally push button doesn't make a major difference. I'd just go with a normal legacy non turbo or get the gt

liberty is jus the australian model..they don't carry the legacy badge as the JDM,SDM,USDM and ROW.

The push start comes on most of the JDM '08s up..but it is also available on the '07's also..ex factory

I like the push to start..it jus adds the convenience of not having to fumble with keys..jus mash the brake..push and do ur ting..other than that its purely aesthetic

Quick question guys. I haven't had the opportunity to drive the legacy spec B or any legacy for that matter. But I have driven the 2008 forester is there any comparison on the actual feel of the car eg: very smooth dot feel a thing or feel every bump n stone in the road!
Or what us a good car u would compare it to?
