Date: Monday 30th of September 2013
ISSUED AT:09:07PM

ITCZ CONTINUES TO AFFECT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Over the past few hours Trinidad and Tobago have
been experiencing cloudy/overcast conditions with
periods of rain and showers, some of which have
been moderate to heavy and thundery at times.
This rainfall activity was associated with the
Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). The ITCZ
will continue to affect weather conditions over
Trinidad and Tobago for the next 24 to 48 hours.

Numerical Weather Prediction Models (NWP) forecast
an increase in cloudy conditions with periods of
rain and/or showers, some of which can be
moderate to heavy and thundery at times. Cloudy
conditions are expected to increase after
midnight affecting Trinidad and to lesser extent
Tobago. Gradual improvement is expected towards
evening. The rainfall pattern of predawn showers/
thundershowers with an improvement towards evening
is typical of the ITCZ during the rainy season and
is expected to continue for the next 24 to 48
hours as the ITCZ remains in the area.

Gusty winds in excess of 45 km/h are likely and
the possibility of localized street and flash
flooding may occur in the vicinity of heavy
showers and thundershowers. Given the expected
conditions, citizens are therefore advised to be
vigilant and cautious as they conduct their
activities and to pay attention to daily public
weather forecasts issued at 6 am, 10 am, 3 pm and
5:30 pm.

We wish to underscore that at this time Trinidad
and Tobago is not under any Tropical Storm
threat, Watch or Warning.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service
will continue to closely monitor this system and
will issue another bulletin if the situation
warrants.
