THE BODY found in bushes on Tuesday morning in Point Fortin has been tentatively identified as that of Matthew ‘‘Redman’’ James, 18. Police sources said that the body was identified by fingerprints but they are still awaiting positive confirmation from relatives.
The victim, whose body bore gunshot wounds to the back of the head as well as to the upper and lower back , lived at two addresses, one in Maloney and the other in Chaguanas. Police sources say the victim had a surgical glove on his left hand while a netted stocking cap was found in his pants pocket. A police report stated that at about 7 am on Tuesday workers of the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) were carrying out works in Parry Lands, Point Fortin when they stumbled upon the body at the side of the road. The body was viewed by the District Medical Officer and later removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James for an autopsy.
Police said they believe James was shot and killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the location in Point Fortin. Point Fortin police are conducting enquiries.
