Whats the Shock Head?

Postby trinianouk » August 9th, 2010, 6:59 pm

Ok...so I've been getting a noise coming from the right back wheel for a while now. Bought four new tyres then went to align an camber right after.

When I explained the noise I was getting, the alignment guy told me to check the shock head.

What actually is that?
Can it be repaired or replaced without replacing the entire shock?

Thanks guys...

This is what it looks like. It mounts the top of the strut to the vehicle. It's replaceable but depending on the vehicle, you may have to find it FU.

Hey thanks for the info dude..

My car is a 2003 BJ 323...foreign used. The shock I'm getting the noise on is the right back shock. I'll probably check with Souther Sales to get original replacement.

Take it out and walk with it if you can

This way you can ensure that it is bad and ensure what SS giving you is the correct thing.

To add to Wagonrunner's comment, KY was on sale at supafarm last week....... :)

grim reaper, that can be caused by worn balljoints, busted bushings, weak or busted shocks - get a suspension check done by a mech or alignment shop

Had it checked by a mechanic and he saw nothing wrong to cause the noise....will go by a alignment centre and get a check any idea on the cost for a check?
