2014 Honda Fit/Jazz

Postby SRASC » June 28th, 2013, 3:04 pm

Several purported pictures of the 2014 Honda Fit (aka Jazz) have surfaced online.

Posted on our Carspyshots.net sister site, the images reveal the model will have Insight-inspired styling with angular headlights and a distinctive grille. The hatchback also has an aggressive front bumper, an upward sweeping character line and a sportier greenhouse. Out back, there's a ventilated rear bumper and Volvo-like taillights.

The interior picture doesn't reveal much of the cabin but confirms the existence of a hybrid variant. We can also see a digital instrument cluster and what appears to be a Prius-like shift pattern.

The Honda Fit is expected to be launched in Japan this fall, while U.S. sales are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2014. The US-spec Fit will be built in Mexico alongside the production version of the Urban SUV concept.

As someone who owns a 2006 fit (old model) I actually like this.. I found the fit took a step backward between the 1st and 2nd models but this is a positive look.

Now, just for them to make a properly sporty version! Let's be honest, the fit is basically what a civic was in the 90's. No young modder/ricer can afford a new civic and the city is just pointless and ugly

The guessing game on whether last month's scans of the Honda Fit (also known as the Jazz) were real or not ended today as the Japanese carmaker came out with an official release and photos of its new subcompact model that will first go on sale in its home market this September, and then the rest of the world.
Whereas the new Fit retains its semi-tall hatchback stature, the third generation model's styling strays away from the looks of the first two iterations featuring more complex exterior lines combined with a sharper looking front end and a rear that will remind some of Volvo's crossovers.

The interior is also new and comes with more geometrical shapes and harder lines, along with fresh comfort and technology features such as the full-touchscreen controls on the center console.

Honda said that in Japan, the new Fit will launch in September in three flavors, a 1.3-liter unit delivering 100PS (99hp), a 1.5-liter engine producing 132PS (130hp) and a hybrid version fitted with a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle (high expansion ratio cycle) engine.

The Fit Hybrid is the first model to be equipped with Honda's new Sport Hybrid Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive (i-DCD) system for small-size vehicles that consists of a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with a built-in high-output motor, and IPU (intelligent power unit) incorporating a built-in lithium-ion battery. Honda said this system improves the Fit's fuel economy by more than 35 percent to 36.4km/l (85.6mpg US - 2.7l/100km - 102.8mpg UK) on the Japanese driving cycle, compared to a current IMA hybrid system.

The SPORT HYBRID I-DCD system has three driving modes named EV Drive Mode for driving only with the electric motor; Hybrid Drive Mode in which both engine and motor power the front wheels, and the self-explanatory Engine Drive Mode. Honda said the system has an auto function that engages and disengages the engine and motor depending on driving situations.

Full information, including details for the North American and European versions of the car are to be released in the coming weeks and months.

Looks great especially with the wheels on the red one. Now for Honda to drop in the 1.5L turbo unit and a Type R handling package .... this would be one suhweeet ride.

The back does look very much like a Volvo, which isn't a bad thing at all in my books (I am a former volvo owner and a current fit owner).. I think that that 1.5L could be quite fun and I am glad to see it paired to something other than the pitiful CVT..

Re: a turbo 1.5L and type-r package, as much as i'd love to see it I don't see it being on the cards for now.

The 2014 Honda Jazz/Fit with the Mugen package has been revealed through a leaked catalog.

Both RS (orange) and S (white) versions come with a more aggressive body kit featuring beefed-up bumpers, front splitter, rear diffuser, 17-inch multi-spoke alloys and a roof-mounted spoiler. The rear bumper also has vents while the RS version gets some chrome touches under the rear windshield.

Aside from visual tweaks, the Mugen-prepared Jazz/Fit is also expected to get a power bump which will be more significant for the RS model. The cars should also benefit from a stiffer suspension and minor visual changes inside the cabin.

The regular version will be launched in Japan next month which means the Mugen variant should be out before the end of the year.

It turns out the Mugen really is fast. Just yesterday we got our first official look at the JDM version of the all new Honda Fit. In both Hybrid and minty-fresh RS trim, the Japanese Fit is more complexly surfaced and angular than in any of the previous generations. Mugen has apparently been working with the new Fit body for a while, as the tuning house has just released some images and information about parts for the new hatchback.

Suddenly the original Honda styling seems somewhat restrained.

Mugen has crafted body kit parts to work with both the Hybrid and RS models, right from go. Though detailed information is still a little sparse, we're told that parts include: two types of front spoilers, a bumper and a chin spoiler, side skirts, and a carbon fiber rear wing (for the RS).

In terms of functional accessories, a sport exhaust, upgraded brake pads and a new slinky set of Mugen wheels are all up for grabs. "Semi-bucket" and "full-bucket" racing seats can also be had, as can a gauge cluster for water temperature, oil temperature and oil pressure.
