Honda vs Mitsubishi

Postby NotHim » July 9th, 2013, 10:31 am

don't judge me ..but all i have to go on is people's personal opinions ..and to me that isn't good enough
So ..in terms of reliability and performance (not looks) which BRAND is better?

If it's a 98 EK3, chances are it has a D15B vtec, not a b16a

each car has it's own set of merits, both have independent rear suspension which are good for reasonably cheap fwd cars. Parts are readily available for both cars, including aftermarket support.

it's a coin toss, really.

I'm a mitsu owner and people think I mad for saying I'll only sell my lancer if I'm getting a DC2

Personally mitsubishi parts are durable and reliable. But recently parts are getting expensive and hard to locate . I'm actually thinking about selling the Lancer for something else that's a little bit more rugged suspension wise.

A lancer isn't a bad car (had ours for almost 8years)

After having both cars... lancer engine and suspension way more durable. On the flip side. Civic parts easier to get.

Both the ek and the lancer 1.5 put out about the same power once well maintained.

A new Es8 front shock is $1200 for one and it is after market Taiwan crap, lasts about a year.... An original OEM shock is about $2,000.00 each for a Japanese one. Don't even bother about foreign used they no good....Taking into consideration Es civic's are over 10 years old. Most people can't properly these cars because of high maintainence. A right side door mirror goes for $1200-$1500, a door $2,500, bonnet $2,500, fender $1200-$1500. It is cheaper to get parts for a Subaru legacy, Audi than an Es civic. Don't talk about the fd1-2 civic's 2006-2011 if you happen to own one, and get into an accident your ass is grass....

Civic imo .. People watch and say how Honda parts expensive blah blah.. When compared to Nissan yes they are.. But the difference is the oem parts usually last alot longer because of the good quality they not pricey just for so.. My last civic I had for a year and the only part I ever had to replace was a brake line which I got oem brand new for $200.. Car worked flawless the entire time other than that .. "Mini Me" D16A/D15B Vtec Frankenstein.. Anyway the match up is close because a ck4 is a great car as well.. so it all comes down which particular lancer vs which particular civic you are interested in buying.. How they were treated, maintained, mileage, accident history, how they look etc

Having owned both brands I would say Honda any day and any time over mitsu. I know some people here will disagree with me but even most transmission people will tell you a Honda transmission could take more licks. Some might say Honda more expensive but consider this when you paying half the price for parts with other manufacturers the honda parts will last for the least twice as long as the other brand. Plus you getting anything aftermarket for a Honda unlike some brands that you can't even get shocks for that easy.

The thing is you can skybox in all your parts these days

Small example, i have a 2010 local civic

A quarter glass at firm was $1900, i skyboxed it in for around $400

Original brake pads are around $1000 a pair. Skybox them in for around $300 a pair

Had to get a windshield reservoir cover the other day. $900 in firm. Cost me $90 skyboxed in

Headlights are $9000 for a pair from firm. It was costing around $1800 if skyboxed in.

Also had to change a tail light. $2000 for it here. Paid $500 with skybox
