Posting for a fellow tuner who asked me about macro photography. Most P&S cameras give you decent macro results. Also, the fact that a decent tripod will do wonders for sharpness no matter what you shoot. Nothing artistic, just one of the kid's toys, a cloud blanket on the back of the couch. The P&S was on a mini gorillapod tripod for a 1 second exposure in natural light.

my 18-55 kit lens was shot, AF was all over the place. Finally decided to get a replacement as I'll be visiting south america soon, and dont wanna miss out on some opportunities.

Did some research and got me a 28-135 which gives me good allround range. (right here on tuner, yay!)

Still eh on the same level as you guys, I'm into the extreme ends of the spectrum
Food photography for my blog and landscape photography. Fork people portrait photography, me eh on dat, lol

To replace the 18-55 which seems to develop focus issues , to fix there a focus ribbon replacement for the adventurous and if my copy starts to do this , I would undertake this operation. However there are many Canon options inclusive but not limited to the 18-135 f3.5-5.6 IS, 18-135f3.5-5.6 STM , 18-200 f3.5 -5.6 IS and your choice the 28-135 f3.5-5.6 IS . I have used this lens and have the 18-135 IS . The difference in performance seems to be the quickness in focus the 18-135 seems to be faster and is among the best in this price range . 18 would allow a flexibility that 28 wont

However neither would help when the light gets low .
