Power Steering Pump on NZE Corolla

Ok, this will sound like a simple question...but I still have to ask it.

Where do you check the Power steering fluid level in a 2006 NZE corolla?

I check the engine bay and i'm not seeing the power steering pump. Accordng to the manual, its not where it should be. I'm not seeing any fluid lines going to the steering rack. Any ideas on why its like this?

2006 nze corolla doesn't have hydraulic power steering and thus has no power steering pump. nze12x series corollas use electric power steering.

Thanks Sean.... I noticed the pump was missing while I was changing oil this weekend. I was wondering if I was going crazy. Whew...I'm sane :twisted:

Note the power steering trouble light on the instrument panel next time you start the car

Let me not laugh. A couple months aback a mechanic and i spend some good time tracing this same topic. Then we realise it was electric based. Its a Toyota, excellence again !

look how a man laughing at me .....

The sad part is i pull out the owners manual and it clearly showing where the PS pump is and how the belts lining up. Then i look in the engine and see all that missing.

After i finished changed oil, I start the car and turn the steering wheel with one finger...so i was wondering if my finger that strong....

Toyota excellence, in this topic, translates to an over assisted feedbackless steering setup... No fun for a true driver who uses all senses to operate his machine.

well....the 3zz and 1zz still used a hydraulic power steering pump.....so not all of the corollas have the electric power steering. On top of that i had very light rims and 225 tyres....so i got a lillll to much feedback. LOL!

aye fellas was wondering if anyone ever tried using the electric power steering type from nze, to be used on 3zz 1.6?I know it will free up more horse power as well but can it be easily done. Need to change my rack anyway plus get nze v ribbed belt presuming it can be done.thanx

so a partner is having some problems where the steering is stiff and the diagnostic shows nothing!
he has the electric pump

can it be a relay or sensor or something?

cud be a failing car battery, under load it will fail safe to conserve power and thus rendering hard steering

I'm getting this same problem after taking out my battery. How can this problem be resolved??? Every now and then this happens whilst driving at slow speeds I have to cut off and start back the car and all seems to be fine until it happens again.
