HTC Can’t Win for Losing; Nokia Files Lawsuit Against the HTC One

Image

It appears that HTC just can’t get ahead with the HTC One. After delaying the device due to constraints on parts. HTC Is now being slapped with a lawsuit by Nokia. A court in the Netherlands awarded Nokia a preliminary injunction on the handset over the microphone. Seems like the smallest of things can cause a lawsuit these days. Nokia is going after HTC in regards to the set of high amplitude microphones in the Taiwanese manufacturer’s latest flagship device.

According to Nokia, the HTC One uses the exact same microphone as the entire range of Lumia devices that Nokia has. That right there was enough for a judge to issue the preliminary injunction. Of course, HTC didn’t license the special microphone, which was their mistake in all of this. Nokia went ahead and even tore down both devices to provide images and serial numbers/model numbers to the court to prove that HTC did indeed use the same microphone. Which is a bit overboard right? You can see that image down below.

Image

Here’s where things get tricky. The same manufacturer makes the microphone for both HTC and Nokia. But this specific model was made for Nokia only. So we’re not sure if this was a mix up by the manufacturer or not. If it was, I certainly hope they’ll own up to it and fix it on HTC’s behalf. This is yet another issue that is going to keep HTC in the hole. The HTC One is supposed to be the savior for the manufacturer in 2013, but if the device is banned from the Netherlands, that makes it just a bit harder.

So it seems that HTC just can’t catch a break these days. We’re hoping this will get cleared up for HTC quickly, since it looks like it’s the microphones’ manufacturer that mixed things up.

Samsung Galaxy Note III to come with unbreakable plastic display

The reports and rumors surrounding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note III have been appearing by the handful, but we’re starting to get a few repeat rumors that could lead to the real thing. The screen size is still up in the air, but multiple sources have “confirmed” 5.99-inches will indeed be what Samsung offers. And now we’re hearing it will be an unbreakable plastic display, not glass.

Image

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that screen size, or of unbreakable displays from Samsung. Getting them both in the same rumor however is where this gets interesting. Samsung’s 5.5-inch Note II getting a slight increase to 5.99 instead of previously reported 6.3-inches sounds more realistic. Then improve the design and offer an unbreakable OLED display – sign me up!

According to SamMobile that’s exactly what we could be seeing in August for IFA 2013, with a release set for early Q4 of 2013. Just like the previous Note II last year. The OLED plastic display will be extremely lightweight, but also much thinner which will provide space for an even bigger battery. Then of course it won’t break when dropped.

The issue here is durability and resilience to scratches. If my screen doesn’t break but gets scratched like no other from daily use, keys, and of course that S-Pen stylus then we won’t be happy. Most likely Samsung has a way around both of those issues as the Note III will undoubtedly come with the S-Pen. So far this is just a rumor but one that makes perfect sense, especially as screen sizes continue to increase.

Who doesn't have a plastic screen protector on their glass screens anyway? I know that any dust on the s pen scratches a cheapo screen protector though

more from the motorola front on what to expect in upcoming devices.

Image

source: http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/motoro ... ecs-34106/

--------------------------------------

http://www.android.gs/google-x-phone-re ... -official/

Jim Wicks, Motorola Chief of Design, said that the Google X Phone release date was set for the second half of 2013. Of course, Wicks didn’t reveal many details about the X Phone, but he wanted to assure us that it won’t be a phablet, as Motorola is currently aiming to make a smartphone that is sized “just right.”

The same Motorola official added that the X Phone software will be as bloatware-free as possible, therefore we should expect the Chicago-based company pre-load the new smartphone with Vanilla Android.

they missed out a lot of things eg. Reminders? You can't access iCloud data on android. Quite a few things if you're deeply rooted in iOS. Thankfully I've been using Google Contacts but that's the least worries.

Also. Google music? I have it working but I don't think it's globally open to everyone.

This isn't a chess bun btw. I'm just weighing in the reality of switching. It's quite dependent on the user.

however, as usual, industry direction and peer pressure will make the change 'necessary' at some point.

hey ppl, dont mean to hijack the post but trying to help out somebody with a s3, this is the problem.

apparently her daughter used her s3 and it got wet and she didn't say anything and just put it back where she took it from before it got wet so now the moms used it and woke up the next morning to reach a s3 that doesn't turn on no red light nothing, only after i opened it up i realized that there was water damage inside, i cleaned it up with a tooth brush & methylated spirit and left it in rice overnight, mounted it back up this evening, inserted the battery and it didn't turn on, plugged it in to charge and it came up showing the battery charging, when i press the power button nothing happens, i left it plugged in charging still, what you all think could be done to get the device to power on?

Yeah don't use tubemate to download as mp3 , It just renames the file to .mp3 that's why its so large. You can use the converter he linked.

very nice app to track all your packages from different couriers in one screen, slide down to refresh status of all the different packages.
