Only works on digi because they're not an official carrier so the phone uses the generic carrier bundle.

well the bundle still exists so IMO, the only way I see it changing is if Apple removes bmobile from the carrier list in the next iOS update, unless that happens the same restrictions would apply since bmobile supposedly lost their ability to even update the carrier settings that we currently have.

well that sucks....

So no idea if or when we may be able to use tethering with TSTT IPhones.

I guess we touch a button with one of the posters on this thread

Btw I managed to pull this battery life off today by not using my phone as much with 3G on. Sigh

So I bought a Digicel sim to put into my 4th generation iPad and I just want to know if I'm missing something,

I don't have any plan activated on the sim right now but I am getting edge service, I know browsing on edge deducts from my balance and I will only get 3G speeds if I activate a plan.

My question is, will I only acquire the 3G signal and see the 3G emblem if I activate one of the tablet data plans?

The iPad is constantly on EDGE, tried toggling LTE but it reconnects to the same edge, and I do have digicel 3G/4G coverage in my area.

The hotspot works on bmobile on iPads because there isn't a carrier bundle for iPads. You can edit the cellular data settings and tethering isn't blocked.

I'm using web.digiceltt.com

Call them and ensure data is active on it. Data as in "4G". Might not be on the account. The is the correct apn

Don't know why tstt lost rights but my friend was in the apple store in the US the other day and something was wrong with his phone when they asked him who his home carrier is and he told them bmobile they told him sorry but they can't help him further as bmobile is not authorized to sell the iPhone 5. Btw it was a roaming problem he bought his phone from apple it just refused to roam for some reason that time.

you'd be surprised. Friend of mine tried on two occasions to return a faulty factory unlocked 4S (it was a working iphone that was updated to iOS 6 and began to act up) when she went on vacation which was bought in the US and both times she was turned away with some lame excuses. It was still under warranty too! But honestly no way I was leaving an apple store unhappy. tcook at apple dot come woulda be hearing from me

Digicel I assume?
Put in the same APN for Data in under the Internet Tethering area and leave it to do it's thing. You can probably restart. It does it automatically after some time (<3minutes)

The problem he was having was the phone wouldn't roam. He first called bmobile who tried to rectify the issue and when they could not he went in to AT&T. When AT&T couldn't fix the problem he went to the apple store. It was not a case of something wrong with the hardware or software of his particular iPhone. Which was purchased unlocked from apple. It turned out to be a problem with bmobile they ended up resetting his account and his roaming worked. So apple turned him away because there was nothing they could do about an unauthorized carries problem...

But yes I agree with Aaron, apple shouldn't and won't normally not accept a faulty iPhone even if you buy it from bmobile. They are top notch with returns and warrenty replacements

Spoke to a bmobile employee and was told they haven't lost carrier status for iPhones.

Haha dude I doubt a bmobile employee would actually tell you yes we've lost it. I would tend to believe Apple over bmobile....

The employee is my friend and has been reliable and honest in the past. This is not me walking up to a random bmobile employee lol. Also apple can make mistakes. When I went to Canada they didn't ask about official carriers and offered to replace my iPhone. This non replacement due to "unofficial" carrier status seems fishy.

All I could say is that not all Apple "Geniuses" are that. Apple's website clearly states that bmobile (TSTT) is an authorized carrier.

The check marks state
"Carrier offers unlocking"
"Carrier offers FaceTime over cellular"

The unchecked ones
"Carrier supports LTE for iPhone"
"Carrier offers Visual Voicemail"
"Carrier offers Personal Hotspot"

Who knows what genuinely going on there at this point yes.

Last updated: April 8 2013.

I don't think bmobile could sell the rights to a local reseller. Doesn't sound right.

I jus came back from enabling the prepaid 4g on my account and the dude told me that by default "pay as you go" would be active until I choose a data bundle. Then after the bundle is finished it would revert back to pay as you go.

I'm jus curious as to whether this is the norm or not ?

Oh I'm with bmobile btw

Remember I am talking specifically about the iPhone 5. I know that they have been previously authorized to sell 3GS, 4, 4S. But maybe not the 5... Who knows yes
