Re: SAMSUNG S4 vs HTC ONE

Postby maj. tom » February 23rd, 2013, 10:27 pm

It would be amazing if Samsung actually developed the S4 very similar to what they demoed at CES2013. And then imagine their 10 inch tab... folding out to a 20 inch display if you wanted. It's definitely there in the future, just maybe not so soon.

The S4 should be a bit of a leap in next-gen technology, to set a standard for 2014 and beyond. For future products, I will be hoping for solar/kinetic powered batteries, much less power consumption by displays and chips, better management of all systems and power by the OS, flexible displays, better voice recognition engines, and built-in D3O casing protection (which is Motorola patented though).

Why couldn't this be discussed in the Android thread though?

ryan that in itself is subjective, i for one have never had a problem with the plastics used....i love the light feeling of my samsung.

Samsung has always prided itself on using inexpensive, lightweight materials.
how much a phone weighs has NOTHING to do with quality.

Apple is in it's twilight, as far as dominating the market goes.
They are just a status symbol now. People don't even know why they buy them. Samsung is the clear winner. NFC chip alone trumps any recent Apple innovation.

I kinda agree with Ryan yuhno, I really cannot see myself paying a premium for a cheaply made phone. I'm sure Samsung could spend a little more to improve the durability on drops with the s4 after seeing the s3 fail so badly.

Once again, using plastics over metals doesnt mean they cutting costs to make profits or that it is cheaply made. My phone fell many many times even from high distances, was able to pick it off, brush it off with not so much as a scratch.... if it had be metal or some alloy, that would have been dig, scoff, dents etc.

Its a matter of preference really so i cant fault yr opinion in wanting a non plastic phone, i even enjoy having a light phone, but trust me the build material is still quality and has been proven to me over and over, so durability aint really the factor here.

still have my s2 though, never saw the need to part with it to get a S3 other than the initial hype surrounding it.

Main thing for me was the screen. I had an iPod 4G along with the S2 when I owned one and the screen just didn't cut it. Once you're used to a phone that has a "retina display" you'd want nothing less.

Well firstly most people put cases on their phone as they get them to prevent falling. So you don't see the plastic But despite the fact that it is plastic the Titanium Grey looks very classy. The One X and S3 both use Gorilla Glass so they're probably more or less the same strength, it's where takes the hit that causes it to shatter. One may have been luckier than the other. It's not the exact fall. So you can't judge and say one is better than the other from seeing one fall.

if only Nokia went with Android instead of WP. hardware to compete with Apple together with the #1 mobile OS would have been a match made in heaven.

Nokia missed a golden opportunity to reclaim their throne...

Been using the Note 2 for about 2 weeks now, gotta say, big step up on performance from the s3, games runs smoother, apps launch time reduced, pretty satisfied with this, hate to part with it though...

I'm glad they went with WP. Too many android phones on the market right now and who's to say that they would have done well if they went with Android.

HTC has some of the best phones out now and they have the lowest sales out of all of the android phones out now. Wee shame.

Have my phone almost 2 years now, never used a case. I simply dont like having a case on, i find the case takes away from the beauty of the phone.

My phone fed up fall, like i said before not a scratch not even a scoff mark. Many times the phone fell flat on its face from a height...gorilla glass...unaffected.

If it falls from any height above your waist and hits the sides be prepared to pick up battery/the door and a shattered screen.

HP jumps on the Android bandwagon...

HP announces Slate 7: the company's first Android tablet arrives in April for $169.99

Image

The Slate 7 is a seven-inch tablet which runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Under the soft-touch rubber exterior, you'll find a dual-core 1.6GHz ARM Cortex-A9 chip of an undisclosed variety powering a 1024 x 600 resolution FFS+ LCD touchscreen display, which HP says will boast wide viewing angles and perform well in low light. There's 1GB of RAM, 8GB of solid state storage (expandable via microSD), 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, and a pair of cameras, with one front-facing VGA webcam and a 3-megapixel rear imager. There's also a set of stereo speakers, with Beats Audio processing to give them a little extra oomph, and all of that fits in a stainless steel frame that's 10.7mm thick and weighs about eight-tenths of a pound. HP says the battery is good for five hours of video playback.

This!

Spend thousands of dollars for a pretty phone to hide it behind some cheap bulky looking case :?
