Will let you all know how that works out.

What is the difference between Stock and Modified? Any website for information?

As you know, running Stock H800 for Over 1-1/2 Years - (Early adopter of new Tech - one of the first batch of H800 sold worldwide). There was a + change in scores between w205/701 and w910/800. However scores been average. I am associating this with tuning, application and not knowing what to tune for.

PS will not be adopting new tech so quickly again.

On another note, installed 80prs in inlaw car. Cannot compare to the H800 processing abilities though. However I think the difference between 2800TT vs 800.00 USD makes the 80PRS an excellent bang for the buck.

@ GVTrini07

Its is not comparable.

One of the ai net ports is gone to make way for a coaxial digital input. Peeping thru an opening left from a removed toslink input shows a lot of new boards.

I would say its been done in a similar fashion to the Frankenprocessor that Scott uses in the G35... Basically an Audison Bit one shell and bitone main board, with everything on it that can be changed, changed... well thats what I have with this H800.

Website info, hell no, this was an over-the-top, free reigns modification, on Scott's personal H800 out of Japan; that JK Labs took their time on.

@SR

Ive heard about some issues with them. Can't comment.

As with any processor leaving the factory, its built to give the target performance, for a target market, at a price point. That usually means, using a parts list that keeps the manufacturing cost down.

Case in point, compare the then MSRP of an F#1H900 vs a H701... both of which have spent time in my Hilux. The both almost do the same thing... 3 way front and subs/center. Looking at the components and amount of DAC's in an H900 vs the one, in a H701, you can see where the cost cutting starts.

However, there are guys like Matt Roberts and others doing severe mods to the H701, that say its sound quality rivals the H900.

If I could ever get an engineer from Rane to develop the dragnet to give a 4 way crossover, like the new Hal processors, I will be going back to my trusty Rane RPM88.

@nigel1977 - Gotcha. Will be sticking around with the H800 for a while longer. Not really gonna change processor until I get a better footing.

May need to stop fiddling and leave it all to the better half. She gets higher scores when she tunes than when I do.

My cons so far is with the gui.

1. cant change either the q or the type of crossover
2. i can only choose the pre selected freq that the gui has.

Is it the same GUI as the stock Unit?

If it is, what version firmware does it use?

Why would you Mod an H800, there are other processors out there?

Once you have it up and running, any differences between PXI-H900 and the Modded H800 with regards to sound?

Why would you Mod an H800, there are other processors out there? there are a dozen at least. The unit belonged to Scott. Its mine now. Why mod anything? To get the most out of it.

Once you have it up and running, any differences between PXI-H900 and the Modded H800 with regards to sound? Ive never run a h990 in my system, only an h900, and the last dsp i had, already kept up to that.
