BTW science does not require faith

In will take that to mean 'yes'

What are your beliefs on the intelligence of the life that exists out there, more intelligent than, less intelligent?

So you have resigned yourself to using quotes from others, instead of answering your with your own beliefs in plain English, is it that the only beliefs you have must be first quoted by a Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens etc, where are the results of your own thoughts and reasoning.

How are you then different from a person that quotes from their holy book?

^ actually my last quote was from Calvin and Hobbes

Image

the first quote was from the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster. I liked that movie. I guess those quotes say what I want to say more succinctly than I could - so I use them.

I've never read any books from Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens. Maybe I should so I'll know what you are talking about 8)

They were used as examples,, you ascribe to the same theories as they, and there are some questions that are still unanswered

^ not really, Dawkin's book "The God Delusion" has an entire chapter that tries to debunk "the God of the gaps" theory and calls it a fallacy.

what question didn't I answer?

Do you believe in aliens and do you think they are more, less of equal intelligence?

And I should have said Stephen Hawking, not Richard Dawkins, but they were used as "examples"

Our sun is one of 100 billion stars in our galaxy. Our galaxy is one of billions of galaxies populating the universe. It would be the height of presumption to think that we are the only living things in that enormous immensity.

Considering our planet alone is filled with life that is more and less intelligent than you and I, it would also be presumptuous for us to assume that any other planet out there with life would not also have more and less intelligent life than you and I.

Most people defend a cultist ideal so fragile that it cannot stand on its own but yet need to resort to wars and violence to propagate the continuation of it. That being said what the alternative for weak minded folks to have faith in?

"The height of presumption" lol

So in your opinion, is there a GOD or not?

I am not talking about the God as described in any holy book, I am talking from your very own statements that you just made about the vastness of the universe and the intelligence of the life that is present right here on earth, and also, your statements about "presumption"

Is there a GOD?

Not think, it is certain knowledge in Islam that GOD is ABOVE and SEPARATE from CREATION.

I had laid out the scenario before about nothing existing except GOD and then when HE created the entire creation (billions of galaxies)...where did HE put it, CREATION?

You consider that sort of logical exposure trolling? A talking snake! Was Eve a parselmouth? How could Adam and Eve spawn such a successful adapted line of racially diverse humans all over the world in places separated by the ocean for millions of years, without the genetic dilemmas of incest?!

Nevermind... just trolling.

There is a principle in Islam that two meanings can be tolerated / accepted as long as they don't directly oppose each other.

In this case the cap fits!

Religion is for the unknowing and weak minded to have hope. It is also a means to keep the wives and children in check. When there are disasters taking place its a comfort to the mind to know that there is the big guy watching down on us and will step in and provide a miracle. Asking pertinent questions on a subject which you cannot explain is not trolling. Sad to say the unknowing will outnumber the enlightened for some time to come because they breed faster. Again I say if GOD did indeed speak to someone in this day and age will he viewed as a messenger or someone that will have to be placed in a madhouse? To draw a next logical conclusion on all of this is that since GOD has not spoken for ages is simply that GOD has died.

Here is a question for AdamB:-
What religion does GOD follow?
If we are unable to say what he/she follows then the most logical conclusion is that we (mankind) made these rules for god, which in it very self is blasphemy.

Achillies, what is your opinion on this?

I don't know, I haven't seen any aliens in my lifetime thus far, so does that give me the right to make a universal claim that there is no such thing as extraterrestrial life, as humans with relatively little knowledge of the universe, how can any one man or group of men make a universal claim that this universe has no God, isn't that a God like claim in itself? Isn't that presumptuous?

It is ignorance if you cannot provide an answer. If I say there is no GOD and you say there is a GOD , then the burden of proof lies with you. So please explain what religion GOD follows... the ball is in your court.

The burden of proof is on me, the ball is in my court, lol, I guess that all of you guys get your arguments from the same manual.

My advice to you, put down that manual, and pick up a few history books.
