Wtk.. Rb25 vs 26

Postby alexatherton5 » February 13th, 2013, 8:36 pm

So tuners, if you guys could shed some light. Which engine would be more reliable/economical for everyday use in a c33?

Economical as a daily doesn't really apply to these engines. Yes the 25 is cheaper to run, maintain and repair but if you're going from a NA to DET as a daily then you might be in for a rude awakening.

I don't use mine as a daily but for mileage on 1bar it's pretty good I think compared to a gas hungry evo or sti.

26 rods and pistons one time unless you get the NEO RB25DET. Those carry same rods and pistons as 26(proven, i have both 26 and 25 rods/pistons and same part number also from my last build...NEO 25 that is)

Then u need headgasket once you scrap and well, a piggyback for proper tuneup.

The best thing to do is buy a STOCK 25, leave it stock, run a decent turbo like a gt30 and emanage and run 14psi....you wont really want more. You might just need a walbro fuel pump, front mount intercooler and 3" exhaust for best results.

I ran a neo 25 stock on a t67 for 2 years, never had to scrap the engine, just had to change turbo to a gt40 and still no issues, but a big difference in power

If you want something strong where you just have to change injectors and turbo, get a 1jz....or 2jz... :D
