hmm....thanks....xmas time is approaching was hoping to import a system in time for the holidays cause we now how crime will spiral in this season.....

the least the govt could have done was to immediately remove the duties and vat so they would be cheaper for the public to acquire and install them for the xmas season in the hope of reducing crime .....

but then again its a set of jokers in power...the same set who gonna supply St.Lucia kids with laptops......

I brought in a camera lens this week which I declared as a CCTV accessory. The box was unopened (but probably scanned). Duty and VAT as normal. Fortunately, I declared it for $50 and not $1,100.

The only time I got properly bulled by customs was when I brought in the camera.

Bought a CCTV camera which was delivered to my skybox in Miami today, so it should be cleared and ready for me to collect on Friday - will update here when I get it.

Although it will be clearing customs literally on the last day of January, I'm still preparing my angus in the meanwhile

Spoke to someone in Customs today - the taxes have not been removed and they dont have any idea when it will be done.

Also browsed through The Finance Bill 2013 that was debated in the House this week and no mention is made of any amendments to any act to remove these taxes.

I brought in another lens last week... paid US$450 for it online, declared it as a CCTV accessory for US$45 and paid VAT only on that price (TT$45) - no duty. So, there's inconsistency (as usual) with Customs.

how come u does get away with declaring it so cheap....dont customs query your values? from 450 to 45 is quite a big difference......

do u clear goods yourself or use a broker?........
