Same red mushrooms Nov 2012. There is 13 of them right now and i've actually fragged from it already.

The key to good growth with corals is frequent water changes (using RODI water), good lighting, a good skimmer and maintaining Alk, Cal and Mag.

Ey fishman i end up getting the dosers, I've increased in the Cal and Alk dosage. Didnt realize coraline algae along with other stuff suck alk out to that extent.
thanks for the info and help

No probs man. Yeah Coraline Algae is a huge consumer for sure.

The pic is not the best, but you should see it in real. I missed out on a real rare pretty pink one raj bought in while i was offshore. Hoping to get a frag from it. Which gorgonian you talking about, the tree like ones or the encrusting one. Will post some pics

yes i do. Both have tentacles that stretch out about 2-3 inches. Anything in its reach just gets burned up and dies. Corals like hammer and torch (from the same family) i'v seen 4-6" tentacles. Right now where i have mine they not touching. Next couple mths they will though

Now you already dont have a skimmer so thats one problem. you maybe dont have enough LR in your tank to carry out the process it was designed to do.
You have any thing like sponge, filter floss, bio-balls, filter sock or anything like that in your tank? Remember you still have a set of algae in your tank so your nitrates wont go down so easy with just 5 gal water changes. for you to see a jump, you need to do 15-20gal water changes one time just to see it budge. About over a year ago i had my nitrates go up to 30-40 and i did a 100gal water change within 3 days. It went very low after that. Its undetectable since then. Reason for that was i had now started using the frozen coral food and i overfed. Skimmer could not keep up

yeah i need to get the skimmer. I have a filter thingy in the overflow and a filter pad in a powerfilter. i guess that contibuting to the nitrate problem...so all your filtration is biological? i cant remember how much lbs of live rock i have but i have alot in my sump.

Yes skimmer is Very important, had a friend in the states who was here and was telling me his nitrates were real high and at the time he was leaving for a short vacation. He said he kept a bag of chemipure elite and was helpless before he left the tank so he just rinsed out the chemipure and put it in his sump. 4 days after when he returned....nitrates were 0.

I personally never used it but read the reviews and wouldnt mind using it as a last resort to drop nitrates and phosphates for a VERY SHORT TIME PERIOD dont think it best for long term.

Just a personal view

Greenlime, these are 4 (branching type) of the 5 gorgonians i have. Will take some pics of the other one later. Its an encrusting type like GSP.

Image
This one now growing back.

Image
This one is big and bushy like a squirel tail.

Image
This one is long and sways in the current.

Image
This is a deep red branching gorgonian with white feather like polyps that extend out when feeding. Will ssee if i get a better pic later.

Those pics are not even color enhanced, Actually they are allot brighter in real. Thats because i dose Alk & Cal (ESV, B-Ionic) on a daily basis. If you see how my coraline grows and plates in bulk on my powerheads, magnifier and mag-float. Its in junks. Will take some pics. Coraline grows on all my rocks real heavy.

Ey Fishman, I end up doubling up on the dosage and the Alk moved from the 7.0 dKH up to 8.6 dKH.
Those corals & coraline sucking Alk & Cal up like a sponge. The Cal is still rather high but the Cal depletes fast.
