Suspension Problem X-trail

Postby uncle sam » September 25th, 2012, 9:56 am

I have a 2004 Xtrail. My cradle bushing keeps bursting ad hear knocking when I mash brakes and go over humps/ potholes, along with extremely bad pulling. I changed 2 sets of original cradle bushings within 2 weeks.

Tired of spending money and encountering the same problem any suggestions or a suggested specialist near the POS area?

I need this repaired asap because the vehicle pulls badly. On Saturday and actually ran off the road after losing control on the Lady young Road.

Much thanks!

I got a pair from the dealership, paid like $1800 per side I think ( got a discount as my van is a local) you should also replace your link ends one time.

Arms....don't think you can change the bushings on the cradles

yes you can....massey/motorist would tell you that they can't be changed (they have been telling me this for a while now) but there are bushings and knuckle joints for the cradles....

Also the "new" cradles look like they have been reconditioned....the paint flakes off to reveal a rusty welding.....

The x trail front cradle and the teana (J31) cradle looks almost the same....

ALSO how was the rack causing cradle bushings to burst and which set of bushings? the small one or big ones?

I need to know because I have been getting some knocking sounds and despite all changes it still exists (changed links, shocks, coils, shock head, stabilizer bar rubbers, cradles)....now it's down to the rack...knocking sounds aren't always there though and seems to appear when I lock wheel all in one direction....sometimes I get the knock when going through some rough and then it may not make any sound through the same spots....weird...

not sure whether the column would be the cause as the sound is heard at either extremities of wheel and sometimes at both....more leaning towards the rach though.
