HDMI control is available on alot of devices

My TV and receiver automatically powers on and goes to the right inputs when I turn on the PS3.

cool feature, but not necessary when you have a universal remote that can run macros

Love this thread, got a lot of information from it but need some advise, looking at getting the Energy Take Classic 5.1 surround-sound speaker system but need a Receiver that would be adequate for my set up.

Here is what I have:
PS3
DVD player
Cable (analogy soon to go to digital)
Free to air satellite TV (getting soon)

So here is what I looked at so far and yes I am on a budget.
Pioneer Elite VSX 23TXH
Pioneer VSX 920 K
Onkyo's TX-NR414

^^^

What's the size of your room?? I know someone with the Energy Take 5.1 speakers and a Marantz high end reciever and he complains about it not filling the room properly. The Energy Take Classic is an excellent set of speakers for the price..but you need to take into consideration the size of your room. It is a small set of speakers.
Can't go wrong with the Pioneer or Onkyo, both are excellent receivers..btw whats your budget??
I personally have an Onkyo 609 an I am very satisfied. Waiting until the Pioneer users chime in....

have some psb's myself. they do really well in my space but are a little pricey. there is a local dealer where you get to hear the stuff in a music room if you want before you buy. hate hearing speakers in areas with soooooo much other noises.

also have Yamaha RX-V667. very nice. would love to add one of these as the 2nd sub: http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/THT.html 100db @20hz

from my research and guys on this thread, diy is also a very good low cost option.

I have a Pioneer Elite VSX 23TXH, it is an excellent quality and performing receiver, however it is now a bit outdated as it does not support 3D, HDMI 1.4 or Pro Logic IIz since those technologies were not around when the receiver was made.

Hey guys, it's finally time for me to upgrade my TV. I've got a budget of 6k and i'm looking for the largest screen that can be had at this price point. The HT at the moment comprises of a Pioneer 820K receiver, dayton b652 center, mains and surround, dayton 10" powered sub. The TV will be viewed from approx 10-12 feet away.

The options so far are:
1) http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN51E450- ... MCMJX39U4S

Samsung 51" 720p Plasma

purchased on amazon and imported. Landed price 6K even. Problem is that warranty coverage will be non existent

2) http://www.amazon.com/LG-50PA4500-50-In ... W716YQBPMA

LG 50" 720p Plasma (also around 6K landed from amazon, same warranty issue)

3) http://reviews.walmart.com/1336/1611503 ... eviews.htm

TCL 46" Led 1080p (Courts $5800 - with 2 yrs warranty)

Any advice fellas?

ok fair enough but keep in mind that the larger the panel size the more of a difference you will see between 720p and 1080p.

Unless size is more important than picture quality in your application

I figured at 12 feet away the difference would be negligible. I'm open to correction. My current tv is a crt so anything really will be an upgrade. lol

I'm also looking for a Tv but budget around $7500. Do you recommend something from Pricesmart or bringing in my own. I'm looking for a 1080p 40-46"LED preferably Samsung. Any tips when ordering

Also whats the estimated cost on shipping. I tried using my skybox calculator but that has always proven to be inaccurate.

i was at pricemart weekend and was amazed on how tv prices have been reduced
everyone knows you save some money or get a better deal if u bring down urself
but there is always the issue of warranty just incase the tv was damaged during shipping
