Good day Tuners,
It's clear to see why more and more people both drivers and spectators are moving away from the Solodex events and attending the more fun Drag and Wind events. My real issue was today when all the competitors including myself finished our runs there was a so called "FUN RUN" session right after.Ready to line up again they announced,$20. for 2 runs for members and $30. for 2 runs for everyone else.Wondering if i understood correctly i went to the control tent and this was confirmed as said.Really absurd i must say!I paid $20. gate entry fee and $140. registration fee for competition and all i got was 4 runs in total for the entire event. Not a problem, but where did the fun go?Why should a registered competitor pay again to run the course when anyone else can just pay $30.?I should have just come in the evening and paid $120. and get 8 runs.

Wasn't going to specify but just want the organizers to understand value for money and probably work towards better events.

Solodex cost to me:
Gate entry $20.,Registration $140.,Tent rental $325. split between two cars.Number of runs for the event,4.

Drag and Wind cost to me:
Gate entry $0.,Registration $150./passes for 2 vehicles and 3 persons,Tent rental $300. split between two cars.Number of runs for my last event,10!

Thank you...

i understand your point and it is valid to some extent in my opinion. i still agree with carstt that members who make the commitment and sacrifice to be a member from the beginning of each year should reap more of the benefits. i agree with you also that registered participants should be given a pardon and probably pay $25 for two runs and none participants should pay the full cost of $30

CARS members get additional benefits, including discounts at Mileage Mack, from Valvoline, etc.........can't blame the club if people don't make use of those discounts

Dex is traditionally a low-spectator type event, even in the US and UK, so CARS makes very little at the gate to offset costs, and YES there are expenses to cover for a Solodex event. Where do you guys suppose that money to host an event comes from?
20 bucks for fun runs? I see no problem there. Tent rental? Perhaps Autosport gets cheaper rates because they rent more tents.........either way, you splitting a difference of $12.50, plus renting a tent is not mandatory...
What is the typical length of a run at Dex? How does it compare to a D&W run? The tradeoff for getting longer runs is fewer runs......if CARS allowed open practice and qualifying heats, then there would be no time for full competition
Perhaps the comments here will be noted by CARS and they will give them consideration....my only real gripe in the last few years is that nobody really takes the time to listen to members, especially new members, when decisions are being made......maybe there is room in the pricing structure...........who knows..........hopefully you guys were at the last AGM to voice your concerns as well.......

The man have a valid point, and perhaps it should be looked into by the executive to ensure that a registered competitors get treated better than someone who simply waits till the end of the event to do fun runs (although fun runs aren't guaranteed) I would also like to say that MG man is also very relevant wrt length of runs vs number of runs (one should also take into consideration the number of competitors) and having said that I happen to like the fact that CARS is a small group of ppl, regular repeat competitors with a few new ppl ever so often, i know that isn't best for business but hey that's just me.

There is a membership list supplied to those places, containing names and DP#'s.

So CARS gonna have to consider having TTPS at events now?

Image

This fella in repeated failed attempts to make himself dizzy, caused a delay in the class champ runs.
When he finally stopped he was asked to leave, since he did not find it agreeable to stop when the event officials told him to. His response to being asked to leave was "I would like to see you make me leave". Apparently he still has a kindergarten method of resolving problems.

Now had he left, he would not have given another genius his car to speed through parked cars, and resume further failed attempts to produce tire smoke.

CARSTT should have a list of ppl barred from entry at the gate.
Off course this guy would be on the list.
