engine/ transmission problem???

Postby grad » September 19th, 2012, 6:57 pm

Good Day tuners, My dad has the 07 prado. When he hits the accelerator hard from 0kph, the van accelerates and when it reaches around 40kph, the engine keeps revving, which i think is where first gear should be changing. if you continue pressing the accelerator, the van remains on 40kph with the engine running perfectly in the background. however, if you slowly accelerate the van from 0kph....it will continue rising 20, 30 40 50 60 kph etc. i think it is a transmission problem, dad thinks its engine. as a result he did the following:

1.changed fuel filter
2 changed air filter
3.cleaned injectors
4. bleed fuel filter for water in fuel - no water
5. changed spark plugs

thats what i can remember right now. even the mechanic says its a fuel problem. any help tuners?

try getting it scanned, also it could also be a transmission problem.
check the tranny oil it could be burnt, check to see if the o/d light is flashing or staying on.servicing the shift solenoids may help.
