amazing that "bump" which is NFC has been used by RIM since last year, but no hullabaloo about it

And iPhone users been doing it a few years now with Bump. No NFC required.

as a tech guy u sposed to know better.... NFC and BUMP arent the same..NFC is supported by Google, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, HTC, Sony Ericsson, RIM, Motorola, LG, PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, AT&T, etc etc etc and does NOT require internet connectivity to use...whereas bump needs a strong data signal or wifi in order to work....

also BUMP only allows you to make payments via paypal whereas NFC has far more payment options as it can talk to any other NFC device (doesnt have to be a cell phone) the original BUMP app doesnt even allow u to make payments from it...u need to download bump pay....

they are both similar but not the same...BUMP is basically the new bluetooth...NFC is something much more than that
Francis Fashions have NFC at the cashier yet?

As far as I can tell the Trinidad maps are pretty dated so even if it is available it maybe inaccurate.

Question:
FaceTime is now allowed over the cellular network right? How much you think that gonna cost from bmobile? Would only those with the iPhone package from them be allowed this?

I'm guessing iPhone to iPhone might work with normal prices but what bout iPhone to iPod or iPhone to iPad (wifi) since those would use emails as their FaceTime contact & not a cell number.

Shucks. U know I was supposed to try this on Digicel :( I'm sure it's "free" from them as they'll consider it as data under your bandwidth.

basing my judgement on them not supporting personal hotspot/tethering, I don't think bmobile will allow facetime over 3G/4G, hopefully I'm wrong.

I thought when they used the term "cellular network" they meant using the antenna & the actual "phone" part of the service to make FaceTime calls & not the "data network" that using edge/3G/4G etc.

My bad.

CNET Asia wrote:Hacked iPhone 5 nano-SIM--thickness doesn't matter

Image

In an earlier article, we discussed how the nano-SIM standard (or 4FF) is thinner than the earlier SIM card standards--mini-SIM (2FF) and micro-SIM (3FF). This was easily solved with some sandpaper, and we found that thinning down a micro-SIM doesn't have any detrimental effect on it. Today, after completing the job of cutting a micro-SIM down to the dimensions of a nano-SIM, we also discovered that the iPhone 5's SIM tray is quite forgiving--the thicker card fit in with no issues.

Image

This means that, with the iPhone 5, there is no need to worry about the thickness of a micro-SIM when modifying it into a nano-SIM. All that has to be done is to cut it down to the correct length and height, and you're good to go. This also means that nano-SIM cutters (these look like large staplers) should work without a hitch.

Image

For those who have older SIM cards with larger chips, you may have to cut into the metal parts so it can be pared down to nano-SIM size. This won't spoil the card, but you do have to make sure the horizontal lines on the chip match up correctly so the phone can detect the card. See the image below for an illustration of that.

Image

It is also important to note that even though our experiment worked with an iPhone 5, there's no guarantee that this will be the same for future devices that require the thinner nano-SIM.

noice 8-)
