Credit Card users

Postby netsket » August 10th, 2012, 9:39 am

Which bank in Trinidad (if any) offers cash back incentives for credit card use?

I not interested in flying miles, only cash back or purchasing incentives

I know Scotiabank has the Magna points incentive for its credit card..which is an option if I dont get any cash back incentives.

but which other bank in Trinidad offers similar incentives?

wrt to republic classic card
its TT50 or 15US for 1 bonus point and i think 2 points equals 1$ cash back

I dunno but recently I bought something in pricesmart valued at 800 dollars and with all the tickets I got from RBC I ended up paying about 3 something, the cashier wasn't too happy tho but they were just laying around there, I had to use them before they expired lol

It comes down to the card holder tbh, it's easy to get caught up in debt but credit cards are really convenient

I have FCB VISA and Scotia Master Card I normally use the FCB card it give me better rewards
I use my Credit Cards to pay all bills major purchases and then pay it of at the end of the month so I get the points but no interest has to be paid

i use a scotia magna master card, for me scotia online banking is very convenient, so i use the card when travelling to withdraw cash fro atms in which ever country i am in and to pay over the counter, and the i use the online banking to pay the balance off usually the next day, saves me interest charges, and is very convenient for me.
Also a great tool for online shopping,
but as with all things proper usage is important,

this is ignorance at the highest. dont blame the CC, blame the owner. if you can control and cover your expenditures on the card and get rewards in the process, what's the problem?

even CCs go toward your financial history. the better your financial history, the easier it is to get a loan at competitive rates of interest later down the road when you may need it.

BTW 2nrs, try to organize once a year to check your financial history with TransUnion. if you can get a referral from your financial institution it will be free. otherwise you pay something like $60. its worthwhile to do it since mistakes can be made by your financial institution(s) which can have a negative impact on your credit score. once you get the records and spot any anomalies, simply bring it to the attention of the TransUnion ppl who will get it rectified and confirmed.

dont rember the address of TransUnion offhand but its somewhere on Ariapita Avenue i believe....

you alluded to the fact that it is the CC at fault. i merely skipped this post and went to the later post

unfortunately, it seems that some ppl cant read and process more than one post at a time

Scotia Gold offer a list of rewards - one of them is the cash back - but it must be Scotia Gold. .

Honestly - only use for me a credit card is to purchase stuff online or use when i am away. What i did instead of applying for a credit card is take out a Pre-Paid credit card from RBL - there is no fees, just if you use it locally and you top up the card as to how much you want - Max ceiling of 5000 USD.

So its really up to you - I hate credit cards, its a constant debt that you have but the pre-paid provide a solution to this, i used for car rentals in the US even. It is accepted just as a ordinary Credit card.
