1)The Minister of National Security as a politician has the responsibility to set policy for the Armed Forces. The Minister cannot direct Chief of Defence Staff Kenrick Maharaj neither the Commissioner of Police to move in on any squatter. To do this is Misconduct in Public Office.
2) To remove any squatter from state lands there is a procedure according the State Lands Act which involves the issue being brought to a magistrate for arbitration. Failure for the squatter to move would involve an act initiated by the Commissioner of State Lands.
Last year Kamla won against the State when she represented some squatters whose homes were demolished by the Land Settlement Agency. If there are some fair-minded people in this society, Jack Warner would be reigned in.

1) We need high way for development...i agree. TT needs this highway.
2) Should someone have to accept 2/3 of what their house is worth (I mean total cost to be built) because it isn't situated in Westmoorings?
just my 2 cents

no 2 needs some fact to back it up. as far as i heard the $$$ they getting far outweighs the value of their homes.

They need not just to offer ppl money and run them. Recreate and reconstruct the neighbourhood in a similar landscape and give them a small displacement payout. To tell a 70-80 year old man, "Move! and here is 2 million dollars. You fight up and find a contractor, material, utilities and go through red tape to build a home on in this area we have for you in the bush"
I'm all for the highway with NO re-route, but deal with ppl properly nah.
aspsounds wrote:I agree in most cases it is... I am not disputing it.. There are some shacks that hardly worth a fart and they are getting money .. ok good
But there are some special cases in which the homes were devalued because of the location. I spoke to a family .. the guy just finished build his house and moved in with his family . The house cost 1M to build and they are being offered 600k and a apartment.
Now if you were in his shoes .. you worked hard to build something good and offered a apartment...wouldn't you feel cheated?
I just hoped they would have priced the homes based on the cost to construct a similar structure. It does not change the price of bread for me but fair is fair.
