Advice Needed For Dog With Jaundice

My dog is suffering from jaundice, anemia, and apparent internal bleeding, my vet has said there's nothing more he can do for him. Is there anywhere in Trinidad I can take him that can help him? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why didn't the vet give him a barbiturate and anti-epileptic right there? The dog is suffering and must be in much pain. The dog is not aware of the hows or whys of life and death or that death is inevitable. The vet should have advised you accordingly right there.

Sorry man. You have to make a hard decision.

After taking mines to the vet he survived and looked in pretty good shape....he was well for about six mths then had a relapse.........he didnt make it the second time around........

there is a yellow vine that ppl use when ppl got it maybe u can try that as well

Thanks for all the responses guys. We pretty much knew we'd have to put him to sleep, but wanted to give him the weekend to see if he'd turn around. He has no appetite, so we've been pureeing liver and feeding him through a syringe. We also bought a tonic at the pet store that's supposed to stimulate his appetite, it seemed to be working - yesterday he ate some liver on his own as well as an entire piece of chicken, but today nothing, we're back to the pureed liver again.

With that said, another question I have is if anyone knows of anywhere that does pet/animal cremations/incineration? Thanks again.

Jaundice? sounds like lepto actually, I've seen some dogs recover from it, but its really hard maybe 1 or 2 out of ten can survive if treated...

UPDATE: Rassyroots thanks for the info, contacted Mt. Hope and took him in this afternoon. They ended up keeping him, they're going to redo all his tests with more detailed blood work etc., in the meantime he's getting his meds/nourishment intravenously.

We won't know more till Wednesday since tomorrow is a holiday; he was being treated for tick fever but wasn't responding to the meds. The vet at Mt. Hope said that some dogs don't respond to the treatment he was on, so he may have to get something different, but first leptospirosis, as ghostbusters suggested, has to be ruled out. We also have to see if/how much damage his liver and kidneys may have. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions guys, Trinituner is an awesome awesome resource, will keep you all updated.

When an animal becomes part of the family we are emotionally duty bound to do all that we
possibly can, before admitting defeat.
I have had many a battles with "PARVO" and infected wounds many I have won and a few I
have lost.
Putting a loved pet "to sleep" can become the most humane approach to avoiding suffering during
efforts to cure in conjunction with damage to vital organs the animal needs to live a comfortable
life after illness.
Just do the best that you can and listen to the vet.
