i managed to get it working.
i had to downgrade to 4.3.5, then the gevey process worked.
i upgraded back to 5.0.1 and it kept working.
i didnt ask questions after that. im just thankful its working again.

ok so I jailbreaked my AppleTV over the weekend.
content like waw

I did the jailbreak with Seas0npass, then I installed NitoTV which allowed me to install XBMC. I also installed Navi-X on top of XBMC.

I installed Navi-X as an alternative to icefilms since icefilms relied heavily on megaupload which got taken down by the US govt.

Foxconn, Apple, and the Fair Labor Association Respond to ABC News’ Exclusive Report

On Monday, ABC News’ Bill Weir exclusively reported on the conditions inside Apple’s main Chinese manufacturer — Foxconn. For the first time ever, Apple allowed a journalist onto its production line and to witness the labor conditions inside Foxconn, which have sometimes been reported to be unfair and unsafe.
Last night’s special edition of Nightline expanded upon that original report, and included footage from inside the factory, interviews with the workers, and even a visit to a local village.
Since ABC News’ original report, Apple, Foxconn, and the Fair Labor Association have sent statements explaining a few sentences in the original report. We have posted the text of those statements below.
For the record, Apple and the Disney Corporation, ABC’s parent company, have strong ties. Disney CEO Bob Iger serves on the Apple Board of Directors and the Steve Jobs Trust is Disney’s largest shareholder. ABC agreed to report exactly what it saw at Foxconn.
From Apple, regarding Zhou Xiao Ying’s claim that she carves the aluminum shavings from 6000 iPad logos per day:
“In manufacturing parlance this is called deburring. Her line processes 3,000 units per shift, with two shifts per day for a total of 6,000. A single operator at Ms. Zhou’s station would deburr 3,000 iPads in a shift.”
Apple clarified that Zhou Xiao Ying couldn’t have been working a second shift since it would be impossible if she worked 8AM to 8PM, then worked 8PM to 8AM, and then worked her next day’s shift. Ying likely misunderstood Weir’s question about “how many Apples do you carve each day?”
From Foxconn, regarding starting pay being too low for a Chinese payroll tax withdrawal:
“We have over 75 percent of the employees in the category of earning at least 2,200 RMB ($349/month) basic compensation standard. That means they are earning 13.75 RMB ($2.18) per hour. If they work overtime on the weekend, they will earn 27 RMB ($4.28) per hour. In order to reach 3500 to be taxable, they will have to work 47 OT hours to reach 3,500.”
“If the overtime hours are in weekdays, they have to work around 63 hours per month to reach that level of salary to be taxable.”
“Your statement is only true when applying to the entry-level workers while over 75 percent are already over the probation and earning more than 2,200 RMB basic salary.”
From the Auret van Heerden, President and CEO of the Fair Labor Association, regarding the “five year conversation” with Apple:
“The discussions began in April 2007 but stalled in March 2008. We then resumed them in April 2009 and decided to do a small pilot survey so that Apple could get an idea of how our tools might add value to their program. That pilot led to a second activity that I believe contributed to the decision to join the FLA at the end of 2011. I, of course, cannot speak for Apple but I do believe that the decision to join was probably taken some months before (and therefore well before) the New York Times articles.”
Bill Weir contributed to this report.

I need help from the iPhone experts here. I have a 3GS with OS 4.0.1 on baseband 5.13.04 with the new bootrom. Nothing I can do will allow me to upgrade past OS 4.0.1.

I have Cydia installed and SHSH blobs saved for versions up to 5.0.1 but no matter how many times I try to upgrade I get an error in iTunes.

I have iOS versions 4.3.3, 5.0 and 5.0.1 cooked (baseband preserved) and ready to go but every time I try to restore from one of them I get an error (1600 or thereabouts).

Anyone have a surefire way of getting it to work. I've changed the hostsfile and all that malarky and still salt.

with the iPhone 2 yeah

but I'm sure by the time they have the Apple TV 4 I wont need to jailbreak it
the Apple TV 2 is considered to be a "project" by Apple, so they don't try to block jailbreaks and hacks... not the way they do for the iPhone anyway.

Still on going i think. wasnt that steven smith (long azz twitter name) but honestly, i was so close to buying one then... amazon stock /mysteriously/ dwindled

Duane... the nature of the hardware they can't "block" the appletv jailbreak... its A4... that's pwned for life. Unless they got bored and made a new bootrom which they never did on the A4 platform, which was weird....

I still didnt read about A5 latest jailbreak if it was bootrom level? anyone knows?

Apple on Tuesday sent out official invitations for a media event to be held next Wednesday, March 7, in San Francisco where it is expected to introduce its next-generation iPad.

The March 7 event will be held at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif., the same place the last two iPad unveilings have been held. The invitation features a finger pushing down on an iOS calendar icon with March 7 as the date.

"We have something you really have to see. And touch," the invitation reads.

The inclusion that people will "have to see" the new device is likely a reference to the high-resolution Retina Display that Apple is expected to add to its next-generation iPad. Rumors have suggested the display will have a resolution of 2,048 by 1,536 pixels, which would be twice the resolution of the 1,024-by-768 screen found on the iPad 2.

In fact, the invitation itself could even be a picture of the new iPad display. The image does show a very crisp iPad screen that could be a higher resolution than the current iPad 2.

Apple's invitations went out only moments after financial network CNBC incorrectly claimed that the next iPad would be unveiled at an event in New York next week. However, reporter Jon Fortt quickly followed up to explain that he has heard that New York will play a "key" role in next week's announcement.

The March 7 event date has been expected for weeks now, but Tuesday's invitations were the first official confirmation of the media briefing from Apple. Recent reports out of the Far East have suggested that Apple could offer near-immediate availability of the new iPad, with claims that the new devices are already being shipped to the U.S.

The last few weeks have seen a whirlwind of iPad-related rumors in anticipation of the event. Another purported leak from a Chinese microblogging site has suggested that Apple's high-definition Retina Display could add a previously unexpected $80 premium to the price of the iPad, pushing the entry level price up to $579 for the Wi-Fi-only 16GB model. All Wi-Fi models would see an $80 price boost, the documents suggest, while 3G-capable models would see their prices rise $70 each.

Other changes to the iPad are expected to be largely internal, with evidence of a faster processor and potential 4G LTE connectivity having surfaced in recent weeks. On the outside, the next iPad is expected to look largely the same, with an external case featuring edges slightly more tapered than the iPad 2.

Another leak showed a purported "iPad 3" logic board, featuring a processor labeled "A5X," suggesting the chip could be a more powerful version of the A5 CPU currently found in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S rather than a full-fledged "A6" upgrade. Reports have also been divided as to whether the next iPad will be powered by a quad-core processor or a dual-core CPU.
