HELP WITH MUSIC CUTTING OFF

Postby 2hd » February 17th, 2012, 7:07 pm

I got a music system recently installed, all equipment brand new. Pretty basic(pioneer deck, 5ch amp, 4 mid ranges and a sub)Music sounds good but sometimes i keep getting intermittent power cuts. Deck and amp cuts off and turns back on about a second after as if i removed battery. Checked all connections and not noticing anything slack. No dimming of head lights or trouble starting car. Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem?

you sure you amps cuts off too? or as the head unit goes dead so does the sound & you assume that its the amp as well.
check the wiring to the head unit, sounds like a slack wire / bad connection on the 12v live.

i think your problem is up front, if your head unit cuts off, as if you remove the batt, then the remote will de-energized the amp and re energized it, as soon as the head unit comes back on. so keep looking up front, does this happen only when you are playing at high levels ?

It could also be a defective speaker or a speaker wire grounding off intermittently.

check the ground on the deck, bolt it direct to the body of the vehicle

I'd say you playing your music too loud.

Yes, there is loud and toooo loud. Too loud until it sounds like sheit.

Does it also happen at low volume levels?

suggest letting your installer check it first before making assumptions

So finally got chance to go back to installer and we both checked over all wiring and everything is secure. It seems to be a defective head unit and every time it gets hot it cuts off. Plan is to install in other vehicle and see if the same thing is happening to be certain. Unit is a DEH-6300UB i ordered online since last year. Anyone ever heard any problems with this model?
