On a serious note...i find halogen/filament bulbs so old tech...LED has come a long way...especially the CREE and other technology

Burns less batteries too

Don't have to worry about the bulb burning out

All my maglites have failed badly

Pios, is it the lighstar220 or 300 you have?

I first got the 220, was amazed how much light from a AA flashlight. Worked well until some cheap batteries exploded in it. Then the tail cap switch was giving problems, and I got fedup of it.
Then I was looking for other alternatives to the lightstar close to the same output (200lumens). Although they were more, in the 50-70us range, EagleTac P20A2, Fenix LD20, 4sevens Quark "X" AA Tactical. Preferred AA power rather than CR123A for availability of batteries.

Still was undecided on the models above, so I settled with the Lighstar300 for now. Have to try out some Eneloop XX rechargeables and see how they work compared to regular alkalines.

For once I can agree with Pois, the LED technology has come a long way. The Incandescent maglights are retarded when compared to the LEDs.

I got this a few days ago for $18 U.S. plus shipping:
IMG_7259[1].JPG

It uses 2AAA batteries and puts our about 28 lumens according to the FL1 std. Its perfect as an every day carry, and its small size can throw light in the tightest of places. It fits and goes along with my other pocket tools.

This was a really good find in Pricemart last weeK:
IMG_7261[1].JPG

It comes in a pack of 2 for $150 ($75 per flashlight). It runs on 3AAA batteries, but what really impressed me was that it came with a CREE Q3 led. This fugging thing bright no ass! Definately worth the $75, and you can use it in candle mode. A soft click on the tailcap switch lets you select between a low and a high mode.

you will find the powerful led lights use rechargeable lithium ion batteries instead of aa/aaa
for higher voltage and longer life
my c8 is supposed to be 1000 lumens, when current goes it can hit houses a block away
easily lights up trees on street behind
