Chelsea are without striker Didier Drogba and goalkeeper Ross Turnbull due to suspension, but Fernando Torres returns from his own ban and is ready to play. Michael Essien (knee) and Ramires (knee) are missing from midfield.
Thomas Vermaelen has crucially been included in the Arsenal squad despite suffering a minor knock in the Carling Cup win over Bolton.
