^agreed check the apple community.
I always considered it but never had the budget to. you can always jump on the parallels train (a windows VMware solution for OSX) but if you have the time, avoid it for the time being unless you really need a modeling program that is windows only (which in fact is quite the opposite, there seems to be a lot of cool, useful programs on mac than windows).
One of my buddies switched about 3 years ago when he started University, he doesnt even want to use a windows computer again. Suffice to say in the beginning he was fighting up with simple things like what program to use to open what.

These side by side photos taken by Camera+ show how much the iPhone camera has improved from the iPhone 2G to the iPhone 4S.

A photo comparisons from all iPhone version cameras (First generation iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, the new iPhone 4S), a point & shoot camera, the Canon S95 ($500), and a professional dSLR, the Canon 5DMKII ($4000+) in two situations:

    1. A macro setting to test detail and quality of the cameras;
    2. A backlit skyline shot.

Are you computer savvy? If you are I would suggest running a Hackintosh. I have OSX Lion 10.7.2 running on my Dell M6500 laptop Core i7 8GB Ram everything working perfectly. Just follow the guide using iBoot and MultiBeast on tonymac's site.

Your current laptop sound like it will work without a hitch.

im a student so budget is tight.. Perfect candidate for a dual boot
anybody here did the switch? Many have!
is it worth it? Definitely. You need to change the way you think about some things though
what are the pros and cons? If I didn't require windows 7 to connect to our network at work I would be using OSX fulltime.

whatever you do S_2NR, i DO NOT recommend a hackintosh/dual boot. Tech Savvy or not, there are many other ways to 'test' out OSX but the best way it to actually use a real one for a while.
You'd have to learn too much crap that is absolutely unnecessary for basic or even intermediate use of OSX.

My time with an OS X 86 wasn't half bad, give or take one or two things. I think I got lucky where my old laptop, HP Pavilion DV6426US got almost all the things right except for audio in.
Of course it doesn't beat the real thing.

Side question, any since iCloud's debut uses an @me.com email address on the iDevice? If so, do you get the emails pushed properly?

when i was on the beta it did. didnt even need boxcar again from my tests. im talking my @me eh... but i dont use push for my other accounts.

in the end, if you want to waste time reading A LOT of info and then realize how buggy and halfassed it is, there is the wiki for each and every chipset and what is supported... then you'd have to figure out what kernel suits your setup, then, what combination of kexts you should/nt install, then once it boots, what you need to do to get so by so working

normally, there are the ways of Kalyway | iAtkos | Leo4all | Jas | iDeneb | iPC.... the works, not sure what they use right now, they come prebundled generally with yours kexts/drivers.
Pray to God, (if u dont believe in Him, you will at some point) you dont get a kernel panic.
then, at the end of this rant (possible for u, after a few sleepless nights) you some how manage to boot in safe mode? and boom... Leopard or... lion.. or whatever.

(p.s. yes... i had lots of fun with this, lost a partition by mistake as well, im sure ppl on the netz will get their lolz off my post too, ask snags)

then there is the vmware route, where you can check www.mahmood1.com
that is by far the easiest way... but... still isnt 100% mac.

So on Sunday Cydia showed an upgrade for Winterboard was available and i set it to upgrade. After upgrading, the tab said, click to respring device (or something of the sort) so i did. It took about 30mins before the phone was done respringing and it came up showing my normal wallpaper, not the theme i had selected. Trying to open Winterboard from the home screen & through settings but the app keeps crashing. Tried uninstalling it & reinstalling it with no luck. Is there a fix for this?

I'm running 3.1.2 on a 3G (if it's important)

Winterboard is a b!tch. I tend to do everything and anything to go around it. I have had to fix devices that simply installed it and boot loop occurred.

S_2NR, bud, check out the VMWare though, its still not a mac, but close and easy ;)

With Steve Jobs’ eagerly anticipated biography hitting all major outlets in the last couple of days, many fans of the late innovator have consulted the iBookstore in order to get a closer look at the man behind the company.

Unfortunately, for those who’ve decided to tether or semi-tether jailbreak their device, the simple process of downloading and reading his biography, is, well not simple. Indeed, the iBooks infrastructure for a jailbreaker running iOS 5 is a turbulent experience, conveniently crashing at every attempted launch.

On the plus side, a fix is at hand, and it’s a simple yet effective way to get iBooks up and running to near-full functionality once again. Note, it is not an all-singing, all-dancing solution, more of a temporary workaround – but at least it does work!

For the benefit of this tutorial, you’ll need iFile, a Cydia app available at the BigBoss repo. It is a paid app, but is very useful and well worth the purchase.

Step 1: Firstly, you’ll need to uninstall iBooks completely. Once that’s done, head over to the App Store and re-download. Make sure you don’t open the app just yet – we need to apply the fixes first!

Step 2: Open up iFile, copy the iBooks.app file from /var/mobile/Applications/ (whichever folder iBooks resides in) and move it to /Applications. If you only have a small number of non-stock apps installed on your device, you can exercise a little trial and error in locating the iBooks folder. If you’re an app fanatic, though, you should use SBSettings to discover exactly where iBooks resides amongst the fray of nonsensical numbers and letters.

Step 3: Select the Info.plist located in your newly-created iBooks folder and opt for the property list editor. Hit CFBundleIdentifier and rename com.apple.iBooks to com.apple.iBooksFix.

Step 4: Exit iFile and perform a respring.

Step 5: You will now have two iBooks icons on your springboard. One will be rounded in classic iOS fashion, and the other will be square – sticking out like a sore thumb. Sadly, you’ll need to delete the rounded one. If you’re particular about the evenness of your springboard, you should either hide iBooks away in a folder or manually edit the .png file by SSHing into your device with an app like DiskAid or iFunbox.

Unfortunately, although the fix allows you to read books on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, the iBookstore will not work – i.e you cannot purchase books nor sync with iTunes. Therefore, you need to take the manual route in order to add new books to your iBooks roster.

Step 6: Open iFile and select the Wi-Fi icon located second from the left at the bottom of your screen.

Step 7: On your PC or Mac, open up your favorite browser. In the address bar, tap in http://iphone.local:10000/ and locate var/mobile/Documents.

Step 8: By hitting the ‘Choose File’ button, you’ll be able to locate your local .epub (iBooks format) files and manually sync them to your device by clicking ‘Upload’.

Step 9: Finally, head back to var/mobile/Documents, and by tapping any of your uploaded .epub files, you will be able to view them in iBooks!

As we’ve said, it’s not exactly a perfect remedy, but it’s better than nothing, and will more than tide you over until a proper fix surfaces!

Besides his signature black turtleneck, New Balance sneakers, and blue jeans, Steve Jobs was known for his sliver Mercedes SL55 AMG. What was perhaps most interesting about Jobs’ ride was the fact that it never had a license plate.

Jobs’ Mercedes was photographed many times over the last several years, but the car was always plate-free. How did he do it? Did he pay the fine every time he was confronted by the police? Did he obtain a special permit? Did he just get lucky?

The answer is actually very simple.

Steve (or someone close to him) spotted a loophole in the California vehicle laws. Anyone with a brand new car had a maximum of six months to affix the issued number plate to the vehicle.

So Jobs made an arrangement with the leasing company; he would always change cars during the sixth month of the lease, exchanging one silver Mercedes SL55 AMG for another identical one. At no time would he ever be in a car as old as six months; and thus there was no legal requirement to have the number plates fitted.

One might also assume that the leasing company was happy – they had an endless supply of luxury cars to on-sell with the previous driver being none-other that Steve Jobs.

That would be a win-win-win situation for Steve, the leasing company and for the subsequent buyer.
