How long does it take a UK cheque to clear at republic bank?

US$ cheques can take 4-6 weeks to clear
I would guess that you would have a similar wait

why did you not let the person wire the funds to your account?

30 working days- which is basically 40 calender days

Wiring funds is stupidly expensive...that probably why

14 days to clear in Republic bank, and 54 days in Scotia.

15 working days - US cheque
20 working days - UK cheque

It's like £12 to transfer not that high considering you'll get it in 2 days 40
