A 26-year old Diego Martin man will appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday, charged with possession of arms and ammunition.
The man was held by detectives of the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau (OCNFB) on Thursday evening while driving his Honda Civic motorcar along Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
According to police reports, the man, employed as a clothes salesman and part-time PH taxi-driver, was stopped by OCNFB detectives around 4.30 p.m. in the vicinity of the Jean Pierre Sports Complex and asked to produce his insurance.
The insurance had expired and detectives searched the car.
An AK-47, with 50 rounds of .78 ammunition; an AR-15 machine gun, with 11 rounds of 5.56 ammunition; and an M1 rifle containing two magazines—with one of the magazines holding two rounds of .30 ammunition, were found.
The man was arrested and subsequently charged.
Sources say the man was recently deported from the US after being involved in a shooting incident. —DR

One can obtain any automatic weapon in the world
So my question is, if bandits can arm themselves like this, why can't the law-biding citizens?

But you looking to transport guns at 4:30pm on Wrightson road? Seriously?

so if the documents were up to mark would the vehicle still have been searched?

OCNFB doesn't do routine traffic stops. They were acting on information.
