Hold up CZ4A... You got it a bit wrong here.
WRT the law, you are always presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Also the statement released was by FIFA themselves.

The idea that Warner HAD to resign is just that...an idea that we are all assuming. An EXTREMELY likely idea but still none the less it has not been proven in a court of law or other governing body.

Also...I don't think he will resign from office.

Warner was put into a spot where he had to choose between the two. Trinidad govt or Fifa.

If he lost his case with FIFA he would ultimately lose his spot on cabinet. He cut one loose to save the other.

Also he knows the PP sheep will support him regardless. So its a Win win for him.

Yeah I hear ya.
Lots of corruption here as well wrt MOWT
I am sure this will come to light soon.
Not suggesting that he will have to resign as minister because of the FIFA fiasco.

FIFA does not disclose any of its information, all fifa matters are dealt with internally, it was stated clearly for the world to understand, so i hope those stupid opposition members understand that as they are calling on gibbs to have an investigation.

I'm sorry but at least i am seeing major changes taking place all over the country with regard to infrastructural works and development projects rather than huge performing arts centres and stadiums that cost this country billions and would be grossly underutilized. i would rather have warner as a minister even if he is "perceived" to be corrupt (than the dozens of ministers that came before him an have wasted this country's money with no real value to the population such as 2million dollar flags. All who sit on their thrones and lambaste the government for its follies should also sit back and look at the good things that some of these ppl have done rather than be blindly led by race or political affiliation. I believe that this country will see major changes (positive) under the likes of Mr. Warner. Plz nb that i was not a supporter of warner before he got into office but after seeing how the man operates, u cant help but believe he can do great things

What infrastructural works and development projects? If anything, this government has been running this country on cruise control since May 24 2010. Everything JW has done has been complete projects that were already underway when he came or just do whatever is normal for any minister of works and trans. Ppl seem to forget past infrastructural work (such as Golconda Highway, Diego Martin Highway widening, dual carriageway from Tumpuna Rd to Cumuto Junc.) and act like because Jack pave 2 rural roads he is the best thing ever. Prior to May 24 there were 5 tenders out for highways, PP scrap it down to one (P. Fortin H'way) and still can't do it. Jack said that banks were pressing to finance it and will in 2 weeks, four months later we have no financing the only way to do it is through paying for it cash (which will surely end up with it not being finished). The same goes for his plans to move Licensing Office to central, new license plates, new licenses (not just printed on cards), Tunnel to Maracas , and many others are dying a slow death.

And this view that he is innocent until proven guilty is ludicrous based on the number of allegations he has faced, in the public eye, everyone know he is guilty. He hasn't been proven guilty but he hasn't been proven innocent either so in my book he is as guilt as the murderer who gets his case thrown out because of a technicality. Beside, how could a guy accused of bribery deal with bribery in the Licensing Office? Any time he points a finger 3 fingers will pointing back at him.

The ends don't justify the means and I would like to know what moral basis did ppl vote out the last gov't on if when the PP does the same thing, they accept it and pacify themselves with the thought that its not as bad as the last gov't. You my friends have been duped.

I'm sure this seems true to citizens who are not aware of what is actually happening. I'm in construction and daily I see mega BLATANT corruption taking place.
This govt is taking us backward. They know they only have five years at most so they are milking this country and taking what they can.
And I actually voted for them too.. That's the sad part.

FIFA is bigger than any government, Seth already told the world- FIFA does not include any police or investigations into their runnings, they handle everythign internally.

He resigned so ALLL pending investigations were DROPPED, and hes now presumed innocent.
They will NOT divulge any info on jack, end of story, wonders how long that pothound and former king will try to ride out this investigation crap....................

it hard to root out corruption when plenty players grow up in the game and do all the background work.

but i have seen some work in areas where there has been none for the past decade.

we cannot lay back and rely on all bodies to be intrinsically corrupt proof. it would be ideal if it were so, but knowing how much there is to be gained, naive and adolescent to believe so. what there needs to be is a policing agency to always have pressure on them to desist from corruption.
if they are always evaluated, then inconsistencies would be easily picked up, and reprimand follow. if they know they cant hide too much for too long and then they get punished then they would be less inclined to be corrupt.

is not the man, so much as the system.

'Jack had case with envelopes of cash'
CFU document surfaces

Story Created: Jul 22, 2011 at 11:43 PM ECT

Story Updated: Jul 22, 2011 at 11:43 PM ECT

A previously undisclosed document, detailing claims that Works Minister and former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner handed a senior Caribbean football official a locked case containing envelopes of cash to be distributed to members of the Caribbean Football Union at a special meeting in Port of Spain promoting Mohamed bin Hammam's FIFA presidential bid, has surfaced.

The allegation is contained in a report by the CFU general secretary Angenie Kanhai obtained by the BBC.

The two-page document, on CFU headed paper and dated July 15, was prepared for FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke but was to be sent via the CFU's executive committee.

It is understood this document has now been submitted to the ethics committee investigating claims that bin Hammam tried to bribe members of the CFU with gifts of £40,000 each.

Kanhai has travelled to Zurich, Switzerland, where the hearing is taking place, and, crucially, was expected to give evidence.

Warner, bin Hammam and two CFU officials, Debbie Minguell and Jason Sylvester, refused to co-operate with FIFA's ethics committee investigation, carried out by former FBI director Louis Freeh.

So the apparent co-operation of such a senior figure at the top of the CFU—Warner was effectively Kanhai's boss—is a significant development.

In a series of bullet points, signed by Kanhai, a detailed account is given of what happened during the meeting of the CFU at the Hyatt Regency (Trinidad) Hotel in Port of Spain on May 10 and 11. The document states:

"I was directed to coordinate the special meeting of the CFU by Mr Jack Warner, who was at that time, president of the CFU. Mr Warner initially requested the meeting be held by April 18, 2011, but the May date was ultimately agreed.

"The purpose of the special meeting was to provide Mr bin Hammam with the opportunity to address the delegates from the CFU.

"On May 10, 2011, Mr Warner advised me that he had gifts, which were to be distributed to the delegates. Mr Warner did not tell me what the gifts were, but advised that they were to be distributed from the hotel (sic) that afternoon. After consulting with my staff, Jason Sylvester and Debbie Minguell, I suggested to Mr Warner that the gifts be distributed between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. that day.

"During the morning session on May 10, Mr Warner made an announcement to the attendees about picking up the above-mentioned (sic) gift. I was told that I should come to his office to collect the gifts that were to be distributed.

"I arrived at Mr Warner's office at approximately 2.30 p.m. on May 10 and collected a locked bag with the key in the front pocket.

"The bag contained 26 envelopes, these envelopes were unmarked and were folded and sealed. I did not see any envelopes opened and left Debbie Minguell and Jason Sylvester to distribute the envelopes.

"The next day I met Debbie and Jason for breakfast at the hotel and they advised me that the envelopes had contained cash."

The report goes on to say: "In speaking with the representative from the Bahamas I was advised that he had returned the envelope. The representative from the Turks and Caicos returned the envelope to Ms Minguell on the morning of May 11 2011.

"After the meeting I was contacted by Mr Warner who asked that the bag and any remaining gifts be returned to him."

Although bin Hammam, Minguell and Sylvester all face being banned from football following the ethics committee hearing, all the charges against Warner were dropped last month after he resigned from FIFA and his powerful positions in Caribbean football.

The new evidence emerged as FIFA's ethics committee began hearing the case against bin Hammam.

A verdict is expected today.

Warner did not have much to say on the matter when questioned by reporters during a Wallerfield tour yesterday except that he was looking on.

Yeah, "looking on".... he's still more of a liability, than an asset to the P.P. the more this thing drags on, in the international media, and he knows it.
The local media even asked him about the plot, by members of the party to "squeeze" him out of office, he says he wishes his detractors well....classic Jack.
