Are you sure your guage is functional.
Remove the pump assembly and service the float switch

my gauge is functional. i will full d tank today. by d next two days wit normal driving it will reach half, but as soon as it starts to dip under half, it feels as if it wants to cut off or it does. so wen i get to the gas station an i full up it only takes like $55 to fill.

What changes, if any, were made to the vehicle around the time this started?
What was done to try to remedy this since then?
Was the fuel pump changed before or after this started happening?

Is the pump properly immersed into the fuel tank? And by that I mean, does the fuel pick-up reach all the way to the bottom of the tank?

Can anyone answer how do you service a float switch?

sometimes the float switch in older vehicles accumulates a sticky buildup that prevents the float from moving freely.
You need to remove the assembly and clean it thoroughly.
