Civic EK3 oil leak

Postby GAK Electrical » July 17th, 2011, 7:34 pm

I have an EK3 civic, and only recently when doing an inspection the inspector said the car has a slight oil leak near the timing belt.

I checked the oil this morning and the oil level was fine. The leak isn't very major, I do want to get it fixed very soon but the thing is I work all week and school all day on Saturdays so I have no time to carry it to a mechanic to get someone to give me an estimate.

If anyone here can give me an idea of how much it will cost in total to get it fixed it would be a great help.

Thanks.

It seems the crankshaft oil seal needs to be replaced.. Not sure of the cost offhand, but it's not a complex procedure. It shouldn't take more than a few hours.

i would suggest u change the timing belt n water pump 1time....the timing belt might be contaminated by the oil so its a good idea as well as that crank pulley is a b!tch to get out

OEM crankshaft seal =$150 - $180
GMB water pump = $300
Gates timing belt =$150
Labour =$200-$300
these prices are jus aprox.
